Job summary

ML6 Search + Talent Advisory is assisting in finding an experienced Director of Engineering for a growing international mining organization in Saskatchewan. The role centers on shaping the engineering strategy, leading multidisciplinary teams, and delivering from detailed design through commissioning to production.

Reporting to the Project Director, you will build a high-performing engineering function, manage budgets, governance, and external partners while aligning with regulatory requirements

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years of progressive engineering experience in mining or major capital projects.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams across design, construction and commissioning.
• Proven track record managing engineering consultants and EPCM contractors.
• Strong cross-disciplinary technical knowledge: process, mechanical, electrical, civil, structural.
• Experience in highly regulated environments with governance and QA.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management at senior level.
• Experience supporting remote or northern mining developments and Indigenous engagement.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the overall engineering strategy aligning with project objectives.
• Lead engineering activities through lifecycle: design, procurement, construction, commissioning, operations readiness.
• Build and guide multidisciplinary teams and oversee external partners.
• Establish standards, governance, and quality controls for technical delivery.
• Monitor performance, risks, costs, and milestones; report to senior leadership.
• Drive safety culture and ensure safe construction and operations.
