Position Summary

The Engineering Change Lead will oversee and coordinate all engineering change (EC) activities, ensuring design updates are completed accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with project timelines. This role involves leading a team of designers and surfacers, managing workload delegation, maintaining data integrity, and directly performing EC design and surfacing work as needed. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical proficiency in NX and / or Catia, exceptional organizational skills, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee a team of designers and surfacers to execute engineering change projects.
  • Receive lineups from Program Managers, review data requirements, verify data locations, and assign tasks to team members.
  • Maintain and update scheduling software to ensure clear visibility of project timelines, file-to-floor dates, and team assignments.
  • Take ownership of engineering change projects, performing design and surfacing work directly when needed.
  • Ensure all data and file structures are properly organized and maintained for accuracy and traceability.
  • Collaborate closely with Program Management, Purchasing, Shop Floor, and Customer teams to ensure alignment on project priorities and deliverables.
  • Review design packages and PowerPoint presentations for accuracy and completeness prior to submission.
  • Drive process improvements in team structure, workflow efficiency, and server / data management.
  • Manage competing priorities and tight timelines, particularly for service-related work.
  • Provide mentorship, direction, and support to design team members.
  • Participate in and contribute to system improvement initiatives across the engineering department.
Qualifications
  • Education : Diploma or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Tool Design, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience : Minimum 5 years of experience in design or surfacing within a tooling or manufacturing environment, including experience managing or leading design teams.
  • Software : Proficiency in NX and / or Catia required (training available for cross-software development).
  • Strong understanding of data management and design file structures.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to guide and empower a technical team.
