Job summary

Horizon Aircraft, Inc. in Montreal is seeking an Engineer – Thermal Analysis to support development, certification, and production of our next-generation aircraft.

You will build and run thermal models to predict temperatures and validate thermal management systems across operating conditions. You will work with Systems Engineering, Powerplant, Avionics, Structures, Flight Sciences, and Flight Test teams to ensure safety, reliability, and certification, while driving improvements in processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace/Mechanical/Thermal Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in thermal analysis, heat transfer, or aerospace systems engineering.
  • Experience developing analytical and numerical thermal models.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and schematics.
  • Experience supporting aircraft, rotorcraft, eVTOL, UAV, or spacecraft programs.
  • Experience designing thermal management solutions for avionics, electronics, or propulsion systems.
  • Experience with environmental qualification testing and thermal vacuum testing.
  • Knowledge of aircraft environmental control systems and electrical power systems.
  • Experience supporting verification, certification and flight test activities.
  • Knowledge of DO-160 and ARP4754B advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain aircraft-level thermal models throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Predict component and system temperatures across operating conditions.
  • Conduct steady-state and transient thermal analyses.
  • Evaluate thermal behavior during normal, abnormal and failure scenarios.
  • Support development and optimization of aircraft thermal management architectures.
  • Assess cooling requirements for aircraft systems and equipment.
  • Support development of all weather operations capability and ice protection strategies.
  • Define thermal design requirements and environmental limits.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams to integrate thermal requirements into aircraft design.
  • Develop thermal test plans and verification strategies.
  • Support lab, ground, and flight test activities.
  • Support compliance demonstration for airworthiness and environmental requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement of processes to increase safety and efficiency.

What we need you to bring.

We are seeking a highly motivated Engineer – Thermal Analysis to support the development, certification, and production of our next-generation aircraft program. The Thermal Analysis Engineer will be responsible for the analysis, prediction, verification, and optimization of aircraft thermal environments and thermal management systems across the vehicle.

The successful candidate will work closely with Systems Engineering, Powerplant, Avionics, Electrical Systems, Structures, Flight Sciences, and Flight Test teams to ensure that aircraft systems and components operate safely and effectively throughout all phases of flight and environmental conditions. This role is critical to achieving aircraft performance, reliability, safety, and certification objectives.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Develop and maintain aircraft-level thermal models throughout the design lifecycle.

The ideal candidates are likely to have the following experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in thermal analysis, heat transfer, thermal systems design, or aerospace systems engineering.
  • Experience developing analytical and numerical thermal models.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and system schematics.
  • Experience supporting aircraft, rotorcraft, eVTOL, UAV, or spacecraft development programs.
  • Experience designing thermal management solutions for avionics, electronics, or propulsion systems.
  • Experience with environmental qualification testing and thermal vacuum testing.
  • Knowledge of aircraft environmental control systems and electrical power systems.
  • Experience supporting verification, certification and flight test activities.
  • Knowledge of standards and practices such as DO-160 and ARP4754B would be advantageous.

Location.

This role will be based in the Montreal area, with occasional travel to our main hangar in Lindsay, Ontario required. We offer relocation allowances in appropriate cases.
