    Position: Engineer/Scientist (Deterministic Safety Analyst)

    Location: 375/393 University Avenue, Toronto, ON

    General Accountabilities

    To deliver nuclear safety expertise to power generation utilities and other customers. The specific accountabilities of the position

    are as follows:

    • Conduct safety analysis using state-of-the-art nuclear safety analysis and reactor physics computer software.
    • Provide support to operational CANDU power plants.
    • Development of new analytical methods and models.
    • The preparation of technical documents in support of regulatory submissions.
    • Understand and assess client problems and determine appropriate means of solution.
    • Manage projects and act as team lead where appropriate.
    • Interface effectively with other staff on multi-disciplinary projects.
    • Act as a task leader in projects usually involving only one discipline. Provide clients with regular reports on progress at a predetermined schedule.
    • Prepare recommendations for Department Manager and/or project leader on findings arising from the prescribed testing, analysis, design, or computational tasks that were carried out.
    • Continue to train and develop professionally in engineering or science. Stay current with developments within your field of expertise.
    • Other duties as assigned

    Selection Criteria

    • Requires as a minimum, bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline (Nuclear Engineering and/or Engineering Physics is preferred), Mathematics/Statistics or Natural Science. Completion of a master’s degree or PhD would be preferred.
    • Minimum of two to five years’ experience in the field of deterministic safety analysis, specifically in reactor physics, thermal hydraulics, fuel and physics, and/or fuel and fuel channel analysis.
    • Preference for candidates with working experience in safety analysis industry toolsets including: RFSP, WIMS, DRAGON, TUF, TRACE, etc.
    • Possess a sound foundation in nuclear safety methods and applications expertise, products and services.
    • Experience in applications to operating nuclear and other industrial plants.
    • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards is desired, along with a strong understanding of and commitment to meeting superior quality assurance requirements.
    • Flexibility to perform work over a wide range of areas for both operating and new facilities.
    • A strong understanding of CANDU nuclear power plant design, operation and regulatory requirements, or equivalent for

    fossil and chemical plants.

    • Excellent written and oral communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
    • Experience in leading technical projects to successful conclusions.
    • High commitment to quality and to providing value to customers.
    • Ability to provide value-added solutions and to consistently deliver projects ahead of schedule and under budget.
    • Able to work in multiple locations including Toronto and client sites across Ontario and at times out of Province and Country.
    • Nuclear Security Clearance is an asset.
