Job summary

Elk Valley Resources (EVR) is seeking a Mining Engineer to support the Mid-Range team at Fording River Operations. This role focuses on planning and stewardship of technical projects and integrates major work into active mine operations.

You will collaborate with engineering and other site teams to coordinate critical scopes. Ideal candidates have a BSc in Mining Engineering, 5+ years in mine planning, and EGBC-registered status.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years of experience in mine planning.
  • Professional Engineering Designation recognized by EGBC.
  • Strong digital literacy in mining-related software.
  • Solid understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Motivated self-starter able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in health and safety programs and policies.
  • Mine predevelopment design, planning, execution support and stakeholder engagement.
  • Coordinate major mine infrastructure planning and coordination (powerlines, water diversions).
  • Track and sign off on waste rock treatment and reviews.
  • Plan and construct Swift North Suboxic Zone and provide design peer review.
  • Liaise with design consultants and engineers on projects.
  • Support reclamation teams and budget development for major work.

About the role:

Reporting to the Senior Engineering Supervisor, the Mining Engineer, as part of the Mid-Range team at Fording River Operations, is responsible for supporting the Engineering and Projects departments with planning and stewardship of technical projects, and the integration of major work into the active Mine Operation. This person will hold a key role working within the engineering and other site departments to coordinate the effective planning and execution of critical scopes within the mine.

In this role you will:
  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Mine Predevelopment(Swift 4)design, planning, execution support and key stakeholder engagement

  • CombustingWaste Rocktreatment tracking, reviewsand signoffs

  • Liasing with Reclamation teams on major work in and aroundthe active mine areasProject budget development, tracking and appropriation requests
  • Supportinggeneral engineering designs as a Peer Reviewer in the design process
Requirements:

Salary Range: 101, 440 CAD / Year

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
