Zusammenfassung

Canadian Natural Resources Limited is seeking an Engineer in Training for our Thermal Facilities program. The one-year Calgary-based assignment starts the two-year field rotation, supporting thermal assets, before a permanent Calgary-based role.

In a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, you’ll gain mentorship and hands-on experience to grow your technical and professional skills while contributing to safe, reliable operations.

Qualifikationen

  • Recent or 2026 graduate from an accredited Mechanical or Chemical Engineering program.
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with APEGA as a Member In Training.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a reasonably clean driver’s abstract.
  • Familiarity with working in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Oil & Gas experience is considered an asset; prior student engineering work is preferable.
  • Mechanical inclination and enjoyment solving complex problems.

The Thermal Facilities Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Program is a structured, multi-year development program that provides broad exposure to Thermal Operations and Facilities Engineering. You'll begin with a one-year Calgary-based assignment, followed by two years in the field supporting thermal assets, before transitioning to a permanent Calgary-based Thermal Facilities Engineering role.

Working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, you'll receive mentorship, hands-on experience, and exposure to real-world operational challenges to support your technical and professional growth.

  • Job location: Calgary for the first year followed by assignment to one of our Thermal assets for a two-year field rotation
    • Eligible applicants must be open to both relocation to Cold Lake/Bonnyville and/or FIFO rotation for their two-year field assignment, dependent on business need

Key Accountabilities:

  • Identifying opportunities to enhance production, reduce costs, and improve facility reliability and safety
  • Troubleshooting and resolving facility-related issues
  • Supporting debottlenecking or optimization initiatives, greenhouse gas reduction projects, and the implementation of new technologies
  • Providing technical support to Operations and Production teams
  • Interpretation and application of applicable codes, regulations, company standards, and material specifications
  • Management of new and sustaining capital projects from scoping to close-out (including all permit and regulatory applications) through Canadian Natural's Management of Change (MOC) and Project Management methodologies
  • Promoting innovation with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability and Production Engineering input, ensuring optimal technologies and fit for purpose designs are implemented for each facility change

What You Bring to the Role:

  • Recent or 2026 graduate from a accredited Mechanical or Chemical Engineering program
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with APEGA as a Member In Training
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a reasonably clean driver's abstract
  • Familiarity with and understanding of working in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Oil & Gas experience is considered an asset, previous engineering work experience as a student is preferable
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Enjoy solving complex problems, working collaboratively, and making a meaningful impact through engineering excellence
