Job summary

Trans Mountain Corporation, Calgary Head Office, is seeking an Engineer in the Capital Projects team to lead project management and delivery for a midstream pipeline. You will drive mechanical design, participate in HAZOP reviews, and oversee QA/QC through FEED, design, execution, and turnover to operations.

The successful candidate will bring 5–8 years of midstream experience, strong regulatory knowledge, and proven ability to manage budgets and cross-functional teams while maintaining safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required with professional licensure.
• P.Eng designation or eligibility is preferred and asset.
• Experience in midstream oil pipeline projects is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and approve technical specifications and datasheets for mechanical equipment in midstream pipeline applications.
• Participate in HAZOP reviews, ensure timely design deliverables and cost controls.
• Ensure compliance with TM standards and API/ASME/ISO/NACE codes.
• Oversee QA/QC activities, sign off on ITPs and test results.
• Act as project manager for sustaining capital projects through FEED to turnover.

Trans Mountain is seeking a collaborative, motivated, and values driven individual to join our dynamic team as a Engineer in the Capital Projects team. In this position, you will play a key role in being responsible for project management and project delivery for a midstream oil pipeline.

The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise and technical leadership through HAZOP participation, QA/QC oversight, inspections, and testing approvals. Proven ability to manage sustaining capital projects through the full project lifecycle, from FEED and detailed design to execution, commissioning, and operational handover, with a strong focus on safety, reliability, schedule adherence, and cost control.

This position offers the opportunity to provide technical leadership, vendor coordination, and mentorship to support successful sustaining capital project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and approve technical specifications and datasheets for mechanical equipment in midstream pipeline applications, ensuring alignment with project and process requirements.
• Support department project engineering by consulting on mechanical scope deliverables, participating in HAZOP reviews, and ensuring mechanical systems are designed and installed in accordance with project timelines and cost controls.
• Ensure compliance with TM standards and international codes (API, ASME, ISO, NACE)
• Perform design reviews, oversee QA/QC activities, and sign off on ITPs and test results.
• Act as project manager for sustaining capital projects, moving projects from initial FEED through design, execution, commissioning and turnover to operations.

Qualifications and Professional Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required
• P. Eng Designation with Association of Professionals in Engineering and Geoscience in Alberta (APEGA) is required.
• 5 to 8 years of experience in the midstream industry is preferred
• PMP certification or PMI registration considered an asset
• Pipeline engineering and operational experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, facility operations, and regulatory compliance.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, contracts, and cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• A track record of delivering high‑quality work, managing competing priorities, and supporting key business processes or operational functions.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and levels across the organization.
• Effective communication skills, including the ability to convey information clearly, respectfully, and professionally.
• Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment.

Working Conditions

• Willingness and ability to travel as required.
• Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
• May need to provide support outside of regular business hours and/or on the weekend.
