Island D. Automotive Machine in Nanaimo is seeking an Engine Machinist to perform precision engine machining, assembly, and rebuilding tasks. You will work with a range of equipment to ensure high-quality engine components and collaborate with a skilled team to meet performance goals.

The role emphasizes accurate measurements, interpretation of technical drawings, and adherence to safety protocols in a busy, growth-oriented shop environment.

Qualifications

• Proven track record as a machinist, preferably with engine machining specialization.
• Proficiency in operating machining equipment, interpreting drawings, and measuring with precision.
• Strong understanding of engine components and their interactions.
• Ability to diagnose engine problems and perform effective repairs.
• Detail-oriented with commitment to high-quality work.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Physically capable of handling heavy engine components.
• Relevant certifications or training in machining and engine technology is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Inspect engine components for damage, wear, and compatibility.
• Operate machining equipment including boring bars, honing machines, align hone, seat cutter, valve grinder, surfacers, crankshaft grinder, lathes and mills.
• Apply measurements, tolerances, and materials for precise machining processes.
• Rebuild and resurface cylinder heads, blocks, crankshafts, and other engine components.
• Balance and blueprint engines for performance and durability.
• Collaborate with technicians, mechanics, and engineers on specifications, repairs, and modifications.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.

As an Engine Machinist, you will utilize your technical skills and precision machinery to perform a range of tasks that contribute to the overall quality and performance of engines.
Job Responsibilitieswill include:

• Inspecting and evaluating engine components for damage, wear, and compatibility.
• Operate machining equipment including, boring bars, honing machines, align hone, seat cutter, valve grinder, surfacers, crankshaft grinder, lathes and mills.
• Applying your expertise in measurements, tolerances, and materials to ensure precise machining processes.
• Rebuilding and resurfacing cylinder heads, blocks, crankshafts, and other engine components.
• Balancing and blueprinting engines for optimal performance and durability.
• Collaborating with other technicians, mechanics, and engineers to discuss engine specifications, repairs, and modifications.
