Job description

Do you have extensive experience in turbomachinery design, have you worked in aero-engine development and integration, and would you like to progress and develop new skills? Then this job is for you!

The A220 commercial aircraft Programme is looking for a Engine Integration Engineering Expert to join our Mirabel Design Office team based in Mirabel (Québec, Canada), where you will work jointly with the wider Airbus Propulsion expert community across aircraft platforms.

You will be part of the Propulsion Engineering team responsible for defining, optimizing, and certifying the A220 powerplant integration, ensuring technical maturity, airworthiness compliance, and advanced knowledge management across propulsion systems.

The team organization is established to promote cross-collaboration autonomously, supporting each other and learning collectively.

Your role as Engine Integration Engineering Expert will be to evaluate A220 engine technical maturity for design and certification strategies, lead propulsion trade-off studies considering environmental factors, and act as a senior technical authority and mentor to the engineering team.

Your working environment:

The A220 commercial aircraft Programme is headquartered in Mirabel, in the greater Montreal area, where the vibrant city of Montreal is just a stone’s throw away. Known for its peaceful and safe environment, the region offers a high quality of life for younger or experienced professionals and families, perfectly balancing career opportunities and outdoor activities that makes it a truly special place to call home.

How we care for you:
  • Financial rewards: Attractive salary, annual bonus, group insurance plan, pension plan and share purchase plan.
  • Work / Life Balance: A hybrid working policy (based on operational needs), on-site cafeterias and a highly competitive holiday policy.
  • Wellbeing/Health: Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Discount Program, on-site Medical Service, access to a public shuttle service between Laval (Montmorency metro station) and Mirabel, and a carpooling application.
  • Individual development: Great upskilling opportunities and development prospects with unlimited access to +10.000 e-learning courses to develop your employability, certifications, accelerated development programmes, national and international mobility.
Your challenges:
  • Review critical technical proposals to ensure design compliance with airframer requirements, industry best practices, and practical operations;
  • Provide high-level technical guidance to engineering development owners (D.O.) and system integrators;
  • Perform trade-off studies assessing new propulsion concepts and evaluating environmental impacts;
  • Lead risk management within the domain perimeter and provide cross-functional risk assessment support;
  • Serve as the technical reference for the group when interfacing with external partners, suppliers, and other Airbus platforms;
  • Support critical aircraft investigations and share lessons learned across Airbus programmes;
  • Coordinate with the Airbus Propulsion expert community to uphold best practices and keep engineering manuals up to date;
  • Act as an entrepreneur/intrapreneur by adopting emerging technologies (including AI), driving simplification, continuous improvement, and disruptive innovation;
  • Take accountability for knowledge management within the domain and deliver on TCQP (Time, Cost, Quality, Performance);
  • Mentor engineering teammates in turbomachinery core concepts, optimization, and aircraft integration.
Your boarding pass:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, or a related discipline;
  • 20+ years of relevant industry experience, specifically in engine turbomachinery core design (engine OEM experience throughout full product lifecycle/development phases strongly preferred);
  • Comprehensive understanding of turbofan design best practices, performance, validation & verification, as well as test rig and flight testing;
  • Strong familiarity with engine externals, FADEC software, and engine control systems;
  • In-depth knowledge of system installation qualification requirements (DO-160, vibration, piping/tubing) for accessories (fire detection loops, fire protection lines, drains, fuel/hydraulic lines);
  • Proven track record in risk management, probabilistic analysis techniques, and failure investigation;
  • Solid understanding of Canadian Aviation Regulations (CAR) Airworthiness Manual (AWM) 525/533 development and certification lifecycle processes;
  • Experience in vendor management and demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with English-speaking suppliers and partners;
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and leadership capabilities aligned with Airbus core values;
  • Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and/or prior experience in aircraft incident investigations is a strong asset.

Occasional travel within Canada & Overseas (<5% Domestic and International).

Due to the sector of activity (aerospace), frequent contacts with Airbus entities worldwide, and interactions with suppliers and clients also located across the globe, proficiency in English is required for this position.

This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.
