Job summary

The City of Mississauga is seeking an Energy Management Analyst to analyze utility consumption data, forecast budgets, manage databases, and implement energy efficiency projects across facilities. The role collaborates with Facilities & Property Management to promote energy conservation and reduce costs.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in energy and utility management.
  • Experience with utilities bills management and utility budget forecast.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and SQL; able to analyze large datasets.
  • Understanding of energy sources, markets, billing, and rate structures.
  • Programming knowledge: VBA and Python; familiarity with C++/Java helpful.
  • Knowledge of energy management topics and grant programs is an asset.
  • Ability to read drawings and communicate clearly in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and report city-wide utility budget forecasts and projections.
  • Test, analyze and maintain software to support business requirements.
  • Analyze large utility datasets; report insights and energy performance.
  • Monitor energy consumption and interpret reports from monitoring software.
  • Investigate utility bill discrepancies; coordinate with users and providers.
  • Collaborate with operations staff to reduce energy consumption.
  • Identify energy conservation opportunities in facilities.
  • Evaluate capital projects for energy efficiency tech.
  • Prepare grant applications and reports; monitor grant conditions.
  • Review drawings for new projects; attend related meetings as rep.
  • Assess environmental impact and GHGe reductions of projects.
  • Evaluate new technologies and renewable energy projects.
  • Prepare detailed business case studies and environmental impact reports.
  • Develop and implement energy awareness programs; raise conservation profile.
