Role Summary
  • The Energy Management Coach is the keystone position within the Goldfin organization.
  • The role combines the technical acumen of an energy analyst or engineer with the interpersonal and facilitation skills of a consultant and coach.
  • They work directly with commercial industrial and/or institutional clients to provide the appropriate analysis, coaching and support to help clients develop and successfully implement energy management plans, projects and best practices.
  • The successful candidate will have a good mix of experience with continuous improvement, change management, energy analysis and energy project identification, assessment and implementation. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential for us and our clients to be successful.
  • Most client work is conducted remotely but may involve some travel to client sites. We consider applicants from across Canada but this position is based out of Toronto and therefore preference will be given to candidates that can take part in our hybrid office arrangement.
Responsibilities
  • Coach and consult with clients to identify targets and implement energy savings opportunities through operational changes and capital investments.
  • Coach decision‑makers, energy teams and site personnel to integrate continuous energy improvement processes into their regular business practices.
  • Engage small and large groups in energy management training and initiatives.
  • Analyze customer electrical data using MS Excel and other specialized software packages (e.g., RETscreen) to assess electrical load patterns and develop energy baseline models.
  • Provide subject‑matter expertise to the learning and development initiatives.
  • Delegate and direct work for junior staff such as energy data analysis and oversee the deliverables.
  • Manage a portfolio of clients applying good project management and communication practices, ensuring appropriate time and attention for preparation and execution of duties for each client.
  • Contribute to our highly collaborative, enthusiastic, smart and upbeat team.
Your Experience
  • Five to ten years of professional experience ideally in energy management or other relevant fields such as:

Environmental energy and resource management

Sustainability

Change management

Management systems

Planning
  • Competency with energy‑using equipment and processes or a willingness to learn.
  • Demonstrated strong consulting or coaching experience, excellent listening skills and the ability to analyze a conversation and respond flexibly and insightfully.
  • Master problem‑solver. You dig to get at the root cause and you empower people to find solutions they can execute.
  • Experience in applying coaching models (or preferring one) and the desire to continue honing your craft.
  • Post‑secondary education in engineering, environmental science or a related field and technical qualifications such as Certified Energy Manager.
  • Project management skills, ability to lead projects on time and on budget.
  • Ability to conduct data analysis.
  • Can work quickly to review and edit documents.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Valid Class G driver’s license.
Nice to Have
  • Knowledge of organizational performance change management and organizational development.
  • CEM, CMVP or other relevant certifications.
  • Professional coaching certificate/qualifications (e.g., Adler ICF).
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement, e.g., Lean Six Sigma ISO.
  • Knowledge of ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems Standard or other ISO standards.
  • Knowledge of federal (Canadian) and provincial (Ontario) energy conservation programs and incentives.
  • Experience with energy monitoring instrumentation and controls.

  • Hybrid from Toronto or remote.
