Job summary

High Prairie School Division invites applications for the Employer Relations & Internship Coordinator role. The position supports students by connecting schools with industry, guiding off-campus programs, and coordinating CAREERS opportunities across the division.

This contract, 15–25 hours weekly, is homebased with regular in-person presence at junior high and high schools within the division. Travel to communities inside the division and occasional travel outside may be required.

Qualifications

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Post-secondary diploma/certificate in a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrates active community engagement.
  • Strong communication skills are essential.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, team-focused environment.
  • Well-developed presenting and public speaking skills.
  • Knowledge of Alberta Education programs (Work Experience, RAP, Green Certificate, Dual Credit, CTS) is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Increase student awareness and interest in work-experiential learning opportunities.
  • Collaborate with teachers, principals, off-campus coordinators, career coaches, parents and community members to raise awareness and access to off-campus programs.
  • Connect with junior high and high schools within the division and neighboring divisions.
  • Engage with industry to generate internship opportunities for students.
  • Meet and build relationships with off-campus coordinators and career coaches.
  • Present to junior high and high school students or work with career coaches to present information.
  • Participate in school orientation, CTF events, parent/guardian evenings, and other awareness activities.
  • Facilitate addition/entry of student internships into CAREERS system.
  • Work with career coaches to identify student leads and assist in converting them to applicants.
  • Liaise with off-campus coordinators and career coaches for work readiness preparation.
  • Coordinate with CAREERS team to share opportunities and ensure in the portal.
  • Share internship opportunities with stakeholders and students.
  • Assist CAREERS events within the school division.

Employer Relations & Internship Coordinator

High Prairie School Division is recruiting an Employer Relations & Internship Coordinator .

The Employer Relations & Internship Coordinator role is a unique position shared between the High Prairie School Division and CAREERS: The Next Generation Foundation (CAREERS).

The successful candidate will collaborate with the High Prairie School Division team and the CAREERS team to support opportunities for all students to ensure they achieve success in transitioning into post-secondary and career opportunities.

Assignment:
  • This is a contract position, offering between 15 - 25 hours per week (to be determined in collaboration with the successful candidate), effective immediately, and ending in July 2029.

  • The position is homebased, but will require a regular presence in the junior high school and high schools throughout the High Prairie School Division. Travel to schools and the communities within the High Prairie School Division, and occasional travel outside of school division boundaries is required.

  • The successful candidate will report to both the High Prairie School Division and CAREERS.

Role:
  • Increasing student awareness and interest in participating in work-experiential learning opportunities.

  • Collaborating closely with teachers, principals, off-campus coordinators, career coaches, parents and community members, and industry across the division to raise awareness and increase student access to off-campus education programs (including but not limited to the Registered Apprenticeship Program).

Major Tasks:
  • Connecting with all junior high schools and high schools within the High Prairie School Division, and neighboring divisions, as required.

  • Engaging with industry to generate internship opportunities for students.

  • Meeting and building relationships with off-campus coordinators and career coaches.

  • Presenting to junior high and high school students and/or collaborating with career coaches to have information presented.

  • Presenting at other awareness opportunities such as high school orientation, middle school CTF events, parent/guardian evenings, and others as deemed appropriate.

  • Facilitate addition/entry of student internships throughout school division into CAREERS system (dependent on fit into CAREERS programs).

  • Working with career coaches regarding interested students (student leads) and assisting in converting them to applicants.

  • Liaising with off-campus coordinators and/or career coaches who assist students with work readiness preparation.

  • Coordinating with the CAREERS team to share internship opportunities with them and make sure internship opportunities are in the portal.

  • Share internship opportunities with off-campus coordinators, career coaches and students.

  • Assisting with CAREERS events in the school division.

Qualifications and Assets:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Post-secondary diploma or certificate in a related field is preferred but not required.

  • Demonstrates active community engagement.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Proven ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with a variety of stakeholders.

  • Strong time management, organizational, and coordination skills.

  • Ability to work in a dynamic team-focused environment.

  • Well developed skills in presenting and public speaking.

  • Knowledge of Alberta Education programs such as Work Experience, Registered Apprenticeship Program, Green Certificate, Dual Credit, and Career and Technology Studies would be considered an asset.

  • Preference will be given to individuals who display enthusiasm, energetic personality, and engagement in strong coaching relationships with youth.

  • Successful candidates must produce an ORIGNAL, acceptable, recent (less than six months old) Criminal Record Check whichmust include aVulnerable Sector Check.
