Compensation: $90.00 to $100.00 per hour depending on experience

Are you passionate about emergency medicine? VCA Canada Central Victoria Veterinary Hospital is seeking a full-time Emergency Veterinarian (approximately 30 hours per week) to join our team!

At our hospital, our doctors focus entirely on emergency and critical care cases, applying their knowledge, experience and compassion to deliver exceptional veterinary services. You will be supported by a collaborative high high-performing team and have access to cutting-edge technology, including

  • Computed tomography
  • In-house labs
  • Digital radiography
  • Access to on-site specialists

These tools empower our veterinarians to practice high-quality, efficient and comprehensive care.

Responsibilities
  • Manage up to 15 inpatient cases per shift, including critical and complex cases
  • Triaging and monitoring 8 to 12 emergency cases with efficiency and clinical confidence
  • Provide solid diagnostic and critical care skills for your patients
  • Offer exemplary customer service that builds loyalty and trust with your clients
  • Coach and mentor junior staff to support a team medicine culture
  • Completing medical records efficiently and accurately
  • Liaison with the entire specialty team
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with your team, clients and referring veterinarians
Qualifications
  • A valid DVM degree or equivalent, enabling practice in Canada
  • Completion of a rotating internship preferred, OR 2+ years of experience working in an emergency hospital managing complex cases
  • Strong diagnostic, surgical and emergency care skills
  • Team-oriented and cooperative in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills, which allow you to stay focused and work under pressure
  • Ability to coach junior staff to support our team medicine culture
