Qualifications

• One year of Emergency/Intensive Care experience and recent medical/surgical experience.
• Must have completed Heart and Stroke BLS in the last 6 months.
• Preference for participants who have completed an electrocardiogram (ECG) course prior to beginning REDEP.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care activities.
• Deliver compassionate patient care in the Emergency department.
• Complete education program prior to working in the department.

Skills

Effective verbal and written communication

Proficiency with computer software (e.g., Microsoft Office)

Ability to promote safe, competent patient care

Education

Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant

Post-graduate courses in ACLS, TNCC, PALS
