Job summary

A leading health services provider in Canada is seeking a registered Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) to join their team in Saskatoon. The role includes maintaining readiness, delivering optimum patient care, and ensuring adherence to safety regulations. Ideal candidates must be registered with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics and possess strong interpersonal skills. This position offers a casual/occasional contract with competitive responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Registered EMR with Saskatchewan College of Paramedics.
  • Valid Saskatchewan Class 4 Driver's License (or equivalent).
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Valid and clean criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.
  • Driver's abstract within last 30 days.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain personal knowledge in accordance with EMR Clinical Practice Protocols.
  • Safely operate MHS - West vehicles following safety guidelines.

Today in Saskatoon as we are faced with increased health care system pressures, the EMR will be responsible for basic first aid skills as well as observation, assessment, and basic treatments of those who seek out medical attention while providing Standby Services within Mobile Integrated Health or EMS Operations. The EMR will also assist and help navigate the accessing of further social/economic resources if needed for the clients. The EMR will perform duties ONLY in relation to their ability and scope of practice as a licensed EMR with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain personal knowledge and skills, in accordance with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics EMR Clinical Practice Protocols, to deliver optimum patient care.
  • Safely operate MHS - West vehicles in accordance with MHS - West Health and Safety Manual, Operational Guidelines, and all provincial and federal regulations.
  • Stocks and maintains vehicles in a state of readiness at all times.
  • Work in hazardous environments to ensure the safety and stabilization of the patient.
  • Work with outside agencies as a team in a coordinated effort on behalf of the patient.
  • Document all patient care, assessments, and skills, within the patient care report in a timely fashion.
  • Punctual and ready to respond at the start of their shift.
  • Act in a professional manner and handle conflict situations with good judgment.
  • Follow the MHS - West chain of command.
  • Create and maintain fully completed Electric Patient Care Reports. (ePCRs)
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with all provincial and federal regulations. (HIPA)
  • Report all incidents and complete written incident report forms to Operations Manager or designate.
Qualifications
  • As the ideal candidate for this role, you:
  • Must be a registered EMR with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics or willing to obtain.
  • Must submit with resume a copy (front and back) of a valid Saskatchewan Class 4 Driver's License. (or equivalent)
  • Must submit with resume a current CPR certification.
  • Must submit with resume a current (within last 60 days) valid and clean criminal record check along with a vulnerable sector check.
  • Must submit with resume a current (within last 30 days) driver\'s abstract.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work efficiently as a member of the team and possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work all shifts as assigned, maintaining a good attendance record.
  • Must have a high regard for confidentiality.
  • Must have excellent work habits and exhibit professionalism.
