Embryology Assistant

Department: Embryology

Reports To: Lab Director

Location: Vancouver Clinic

Work Schedule: 4-day on, 4-day off rotating schedule; 37.5 hours per week.

Overview

Supporting the Vision, Values, Purpose, and Commitment of Olive Fertility Centre: This is a position for an Embryology Assistant to perform support and administrative duties at the embryology laboratory at Olive Fertility Centre.

Key Areas of Involvement
  • Daily Quality Control: perform morning QC in the lab at 7:30am, and report any deviations for corrective action.
  • Patient Chart review and chart preparation.
  • Maintenance of progress notes.
  • Sample labelling and identification.
  • Dish & embryo identification.
  • Media preparation and QC.
  • Data entry.
  • Selection of embryos to thaw.
  • Fert check and embryo grading support.
  • Additional duties as required.
Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Medical Office Assistant certificate or diploma, or equivalent.
  • Previous medical office experience or laboratory administration experience.
  • Previous embryology assistant experience is an asset.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work in an environment subject to changing deadlines, stress, and focus in a busy environment.
  • Ability to discuss intimate medical topics in a professional, compassionate manner.
  • Professional, friendly demeanour.
