Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform lab tests and sample accession.
  • Maintain patient records and media preparation.
  • Conduct in vitro fertilization procedures.
  • Manage embryo culture and grading.
  • Order lab supplies and maintain equipment.

Reports To: Laboratory Director

Location: Olive Fertility Centre, Vancouver

Work Schedule: 4-day on, 4-day off rotation; 37.5 hours per week.

Overview

Supporting the Vision, Values, Purpose, and Commitment of Olive Fertility Centre.

Supporting the Embryology area of the Laboratory, and reporting to the Laboratory Director, this position is pivotal to the organization. This role focuses on clinical embryology in the field of fertility.

  • Laboratory Testing
  • Sample Accession, Identification and Labeling
  • Patient Identification/Record Keeping, progress notes
  • Media Preparation & QC
  • In Vitro Fertilization/ICSI
  • Sperm Shuttle
  • Fertilization check
  • Grading Embryos
  • Embryo Culture/Extended Culture
  • Embryoscope
  • Laser Assisted Hatching
  • Embryo Transfer
  • Embryo Vitrification/Warming
  • Oocyte Vitrification & Thaw
  • Trophectoderm Biopsy/Processing of cells for PCR
  • Transfer, Shipping and Receiving of Frozen Embryos and Eggs
  • Discard of Abnormal/Unwanted Frozen Embryos
  • Training Junior Embryologists
  • Ordering Lab Supplies & Equipment
  • Equipment Maintenance and Calibration, including gas system and Tri-Gas Blender
Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, or Biological Sciences from an accredited university.
  • At least 3 years’ laboratory experience.
  • At least 2 years’ experience as an Embryologist-in-Training or Junior Embryologist.
  • Canadian Fertility & Andrology Society certification.
