Job summary

Sanmina’s Advanced Microsystems Technologies division seeks an Embedded Software Developer to work on frequency synthesizer solutions within the Advanced Systems and Interconnect team. You will participate in the full software lifecycle and collaborate across optical, hardware, software, and test groups to bring designs from concept to delivery.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science; MS considered an asset.
• 1–3 years experience; new grads considered with strong Linux experience.
• Linux-based embedded systems experience required.
• Strong proficiency in C, Python, Visual Basic.
• Perl, C++, Ruby, Lisp are assets.
• Experience with bare metal and RTOS embedded development.
• Knowledge of SPI, UART, I2C, MDIO.
• Troubleshooting with JTAG, IDE, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers.
• GIT version control knowledge; bug tracking familiarity.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

The design engineering group provides complete end-to-end product development solutions to a variety of customers. These product solutions include development of optical transceivers and optical sub assemblies, test and measurement modules, and a variety of RF solutions. The team delivers project solutions from concept definition through to volume manufacturing.

The design team is seeking an Embedded Software Developer for the Advanced Systems and Interconnect team. The initial focus will be frequency synthesizer solution, participating in the software development life cycle, from concept through to delivery to end customers. The candidate will be expected to collaborate with a cross function product development team.

Nature Of Duties/Responsibilities

• Participate in the software development life cycle, from development through delivery to the end customers.
• Consult with optical, hardware, microelectronics, software, manufacturing and test teams during design development.
• Interface with various testing groups for test case development. This includes FW DVT, optical test, system software test and manufacturing tests.
• Analyze system performance and quality. Work with product verification and test teams to resolve problems.
• Requirement and design documentation.
• Transfer of information to manufacturing.

Education And Experience

• B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. M.S. is considered an asset.
• 1-3 years experience. New grads will be considered if strong experience with Linux environment.
• Linux-based embedded system experience
• Strong proficiency in C, Python, Visual Basic.
• Perl, C++, Ruby, Lisp are all assets
• Experience with bare metal and RTOS based embedded development.
• Knowledge of communication protocols such as SPI, UART, I2C, MDIO.
• Troubleshooting and debugging using JTAG tools, IDE, oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
• Knowledge of software version control (GIT) and bug tracking systems.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Highly self-driven and willingness to learn new skills.

The Following Are Also Considered Assets

• Experience with bootloaders, build systems
• Experience with Device Tree Blob (DTB) and Device Tree Source (DTS)
• Ability to understand CPU Hardware architectures, Hardware Functional Specifications and Hardware Timing Diagrams.
• Experience in Hardware boards development and/or debugging.
• Familiarity with optical such as 100G/400G/800G/1600G interfaces, Coherent optical interfaces, DWDM, OTN, Ethernet, OSI Model, TCP/IP and MPLS.

Other Information

• The compensation range for this position is $75,000 - $100,000 annually.
• This position is for an existing vacancy.
