Job summary

A leading telematics company is seeking a Firmware Engineer to design and implement software for embedded devices. This role requires 3-5 years of firmware design experience, proficiency in Embedded C, and hands-on knowledge of RTOS. The position is based in Coquitlam, BC, offering a salary range of $90,000 - $110,000 per year. The ideal candidate will also understand electrical schematics and work with embedded interfaces. Responsibilities
  • Design and implement software of embedded devices and systems from requirements to production and commercial deployment
  • Design, develop, code, test and debug telematic system software
  • Review code and design
  • Analyze and enhance efficiency, stability and scalability of system resources
  • Integrate and validate new product designs
  • Support software QA and optimize I/O performance
  • Provide post-production support
  • Interface with hardware design and development
  • Assess third party and open-source software

Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000/yr

This is the base salary range for this position in Coquitlam, BC in accordance with local pay transparency laws. The final offer will be determined based on a combination of factors including skills, experience, and alignment with the role’s responsibilities.

  • Candidates at the lower end of the range will meet the core qualifications and demonstrate strong potential to grow within the role.
  • Mid-range offers reflect a solid match with the role’s technical and collaborative requirements.
  • Offers at the top of the range are reserved for candidates who bring exceptional qualifications, specialized expertise, or unique value that significantly exceeds the baseline expectations.

Requirements
  • 3-5 years of firmware design & development experience
  • Working experience with embedded processors fromST Microelectronics and PIC
  • Hands-on coding experience in RTOS (FreeRTOS)
  • Experience in multi-threaded embedded system concepts, including tasks, priorities, deadlocks…etc.
  • Proficient in Embedded C
  • Able to understand electrical schematics and debug electrical boards
  • Experience in configuring embedded interfaces: DMA/UART/SPI/I2C/GPIO/ADC…etc.
  • Experience with developing drivers for a wide variety of embedded peripherals
  • Experience with interface to 802.15.4 RF, Bluetooth BLE, Wifi, GPS and LTE Cellular modules
  • Experience with code debugging using JTAG and SWD tools
  • Experience with GIT/JIRA
  • Experience in telematics industry and telematics products development is a plus
