The Blue Mountain Wilde School (BMWS) is seeking a multi-talented teacher to join the elementary teaching team. You will lead a class of about 14 students from September 2026 to June 14, 2027 in outdoor, experiential education within the Ontario curriculum.

Qualifications include OCT in good standing, outdoor instruction experience, and wilderness first-aid. A police records check is required; compensation starts at $225/day with a probationary salary that will be increased for demonstrated

Job description

The Blue Mountain Wilde School (BMWS) is a fully accredited independent elementary school with a focus on experiential education and wilderness integrated leadership development located in the Blue Mountains, Ontario.

Our mission is to reconnect our future leaders with the natural world and with themselves. We strive to create a new model of education that focuses on the whole student. We seek to create experiences and learning opportunities to ignite curiosity and passion for learning while developing confidence, resilience and courage in order to empower the changemakers.

We are seeking a multi-talented and creative teacher to become a key member of our elementary school teaching team. This position will be responsible for a class of approximately 14 students beginning September 2026 until the end of the school year ending June 14th, 2027. Additional contracts will likely be available for the September 2027.

The BMWS Teacher is required to have a strong knowledge of the natural world, understanding of the Ontario curriculum requirements for the elementary grades, be comfortable working outside in all weather conditions and be adaptable to in an outdoor setting.

The ideal candidate will have experience in experiential education curriculum development, be creative, passionate about making a difference and excited about the possibilities and potential of a new program.

Additional Information

As a condition of employment, a valid Police Records Check (for working with the Vulnerable Sector) completed within the last 6 months is required prior to commencing work.

Beginning compensation is $225 / day, commensurate with skills and experience + benefits. This is a probationary salary that will be increased significantly upon demonstrated abilities. Our intention is to far exceed all other outdoor education programs and be competitive with Private Schools.
