About The Limestone District School Board

About This Position

Each summer, the Limestone District School Board offers a three week summer intervention program for students entering Grades 1-4. In 2026, the Elementary Summer Literacy & Math Program (formerly Read‑A‑Lot) will provide daily whole‑class and small group instruction in both literacy and mathematics, delivered by instructors and supported by tutors. The Mentor Instructor works alongside the Site Manager to provide instructional leadership to staff, supports instructors and tutors in implementing the program as designed. The 2026 Summer Literacy & Math Program will be offered July 6 to 24, 2026 at three sites. Mandatory training will take place June 29 and 30.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Supporting instructors with assessing students' literacy and math skills at the beginning and end of the program
  • Analyzing data with classroom Instructor to create groups to close gaps
  • Co‑planning and co‑teaching with classroom Instructors and Tutors
  • Supervising students during program hours
  • Collaborating regularly with the team, including Site Manager, Instructors, Tutors and parents
  • Supporting Site Manager with daily duties
  • Assisting with the set‑up and take‑down of classrooms at school sites
  • Participating in all training sessions
Qualifications, knowledge, and experience

We are looking for applicants who:

  • Have a Bachelor of Education Degree
  • Are learners who seek and apply feedback to improve their practice
  • Demonstrate knowledge and expertise planning, delivering and assessing a structured literacy program, grounded in the science of reading
  • Demonstrate knowledge and expertise planning, delivering and assessing students in mathematics, with a fluency focus in mind
  • Use data to inform their literacy and mathematics instruction
  • Have experience working with students in small groups to close gaps in literacy and math
  • Show initiative, excellent organizational, leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Can provide their own transportation to assigned school (mileage not covered by LDSB)
