Job summary

qathet School District invites applications for a District School Counsellor Teacher position, a temporary 1.00 FTE role starting as soon as possible. The District serves about 3000 students across elementary and secondary levels and values equity, inclusion, and community partnerships.

The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor of Education, a Masters in School Counselling or Counselling Psychology, and TRB/TQS registration, with strong communication and collaboration skills to support

Qualifications

• Completion of a Bachelor of Education.
• Masters degree in School Counselling or Counselling Psychology.
• Membership in or eligible to become a member of the BC Teacher Regulation Branch (TRB).
• Registration with the Teacher Qualification Service (TQS).
• Knowledge of diverse student needs and inclusive practices.
• Ability to support the delivery of prevention and wellness programs.
• Ability to support and collaborate with School-Based Teams.
• Demonstrated skills and knowledge in counselling children and youth and consulting with school staff and parents.
• Awareness of community-based programs and services for students and families in the District and community, including other counselling services.
• Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Counsel students individually and in groups to support social-emotional well-being.
• Collaborate with School-Based Teams and school staff to implement counselling services.
• Consult with parents and community partners to coordinate support for students.
