Overview

Part-Time English & Math Teacher/Tutor Wanted

Passionate about puns? Excited by equations? Eager to help students succeed in English and Math? Oxford Learning Calgary West is currently seeking part-time tutors for a role in our learning centre. This position is ideal for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys teaching language and math, and is passionate about helping others build their skills in these areas.

Tutors at Oxford Learning do not have to plan lessons before class, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Position Details

Location: In-person at Oxford Learning Calgary West. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. Relocation packages are not available.

Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Schedule

All tutors work during after-school and evening hours (4:00pm - 8:00pm) as well as Saturdays (9:00am - 1:00pm). A commitment for the school year is preferred; continuing through the summer is an added benefit.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • University students with tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification is an asset
  • Good knowledge of the current Kindergarten to Grade 8 curriculum

Experience

  • Some experience teaching/tutoring at a Kindergarten to Grade 8 (or equivalent) level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills and ability to guide students' understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
Responsibilities
  • Work directly with students as an Interactive Coach with the following responsibilities:
  • Teach up to 3 students at a time at different levels
  • Teach online and in-person
  • Follow the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Fill in post-lesson notes
  • Complete daily student communication updates
  • Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times
