Job summary

West Vancouver Schools is seeking an Education Assistant for an elementary classroom. The role involves supporting the teacher, implementing IEP-based adaptations, and providing supervision to ensure student safety and active participation.

Required are Grade 12, Special Education Assistant training, and ABA experience. Some positions may require driving; the team emphasizes inclusive education and collaborative planning.

Qualifications

Grade 12 graduation or equivalent mandatory.
Post-secondary Special Education Assistant training or related courses.
Recent experience and training supporting ABA programs.
Ability to interact effectively with parents, teachers and students with diverse needs.
Ability to operate basic instructional equipment and adapt materials.
Valid BC Driver's license may be required for some postings.

Responsibilities

Participate in planning and implementing adaptations and strategies per student IEPs.
Support in the classroom or learning support room under supervision.
Assist with personal care and safety as needed and assist with positioning and transfers.
Collaborate with teachers to maintain inclusive, supportive learning environments.
