Job summary

The Electronic Technician role with Sanjel Energy Services, a division of STEP Energy Services, reports to the Lead – Controls & Instrumentation. It involves maintenance on Sanjel equipment, field support, and a 75% travel expectation with 10/4 rotation.

Relocation support is available for exceptional candidates; oilfield experience is an asset and strong problem-solving is required.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation is Required.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, electronic and electrical systems.
• Wiring, soldering and fabrication skills.
• Class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Self-motivated with minimal supervision.
• Experience in oilfield instrumentation/equipment is an asset.
• Military/Canadian Armed Forces experience encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and exceed safety, quality, efficiency and communication standards.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on district facilities and on location.
• Be on call for unscheduled shop and field repairs.
• Support field operations on worksites for projects.
• Troubleshoot electrical/electronic equipment using schematics.
• Configure data acquisition/PLC-based systems and instrumentation (pressure, flow, density, temperature).
• Install and commission controls and systems on Sanjel equipment.
• Perform equipment updates and refurbishment.
• Mentor and train new personnel.

The Opportunity:

TheElectronic Technicianwill report directly to the Lead – Controls & Instrumentation. The primary function of this position is to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on Sanjel Energy equipment and to provide support to field operations.

• Rotation – 10/4 (extensive travel required- up to 75%)
• Relocation support available for exceptional candidates
• Previous Oil and Gas Experience an asset (Cementing, Frac, Coil etc.)

General Responsibilities

• Maintain and exceed Sanjel Energy’s high standards concerning safety, quality, efficiency and communication
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance in the district facilities and on location when required
• Be on call (rotational) for unscheduled shop and field repairs
• Support field operations on worksite for projects
• Troubleshoot electrical/electronic equipment using schematics
• Configure various data acquisition/PLC based systems and instrumentation (pressure, flow, density, and temperature)
• Perform calculations to determine calibration factors for various sensors
• Install and commission electrical/electronic/hydraulic/pneumatic controls and systems on Sanjel equipment
• Perform equipment updates and refurbishment
• Assist Engineering with the testing and release of new equipment and systems
• Mentor and train new personnel (Technical and Operational)

Qualifications:

• Degree or Diploma in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation is Required
• General understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, electronic and electrical systems and components
• Wiring, soldering and fabrication skills
• Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong computer and networking skills
• Self-motivated; ability to work with little or no supervision
• Organizational and time management skills
• Applied job knowledge, problem solving skills and decision making abilities
• Previous experience with oilfield instrumentation and equipment is considered an asset
• Candidates with Military/Canadian Armed Forces experience, are encouraged to apply.
