How will you contribute?

As an integral part of the operations team in the Senate Administration’s Property and Services Directorate, the Electronic Printing and Graphic Specialist prepares a variety of visual products for print communications, including graphic design for posters, pamphlets, manuals, guides, menus, banners etc , as well as operates highly sophisticated copying equipment to copy official Senate documents sent electronically by Senate clients.

Reporting to the Supervisor of Printing Services, the Electronic Printing and Graphic Specialist is responsible for preparing personalized stationery (letterhead, envelopes, thank you cards etc.,) to support clients’ requirements in areas of digital and print media. The incumbent is also responsible for electronic printing, bindery, storage, and engraving services. The incumbent may also be called upon to assist with various administrative tasks such as business and operational process documentation, electronic file organization and archiving, etc.

The general public to staff one (1) determinate full-time position for 12 months in Property and Services directorate.

Prerequisites
  • Successful completion of a post-secondary education and certification in printing / graphic layout OR an acceptable combination of education with relevant experience related to the position;
  • Experience in setting up printing jobs, operating and maintaining equipment and selecting material to suit work requirements;
  • Knowledge of Adobe InDesign for creating and modifying electronically business cards, sympathy cards, and personalized cards, etc.;
  • In-depth knowledge of concepts, methods and techniques in creating digital and print communications supporting the Printing Services activities;
  • Knowledge of industry software is required to produce graphic concepts, and to define and select different layouts and formats for print and electronic products;
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, duties and to work on multiple activities under tight deadlines;
  • Good knowledge of computers, software packages and websites used in the electronic transmittal of documents to respond to client requests;
  • Excellent working knowledge of digital presses such as the Minolta AccurioPress C2070 and Minolta AccurioPress C6100 as well as the Minolta 1250, HP Designjet and engraving machines (such as the Hermes IS400) would be considered an asset.
