Job summary

Johnson Electric in Ancaster, ON is seeking a skilled Electrician to design, implement, and support electrical automation systems for advanced manufacturing. You will develop power distribution, controls, and safety circuits, while creating detailed schematics and documentation for both new and existing lines.

The role requires a diploma or certificate in electrical disciplines and at least 2 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical power distribution, controls, and machine safety systems
  • Create and maintain documentation for new and existing automated assembly lines
  • Develop and update electrical schematics for automation projects
  • Select and size electrical components for machine applications
  • Design machine safety circuits and safety diagrams
  • Develop panel layouts and machine electrical layouts
  • Design pneumatic and hydraulic circuits for automated equipment
  • Create and document electrical automation systems and standards
  • Work with suppliers to specify appropriate electrical and controls components
  • Develop, modify, and maintain electrical build standards
  • Support machine build, installation, and commissioning activities
  • Troubleshoot electrical and pneumatic systems
  • Partner with Controls Technicians during the setup and development of PLC, robotic, and vision systems
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance, reliability, and safety
  • Ensure compliance with quality, environmental, and safety standards

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience with PLC systems, field I/O, and control architectures
  • Knowledge of VFDs, servo systems, and motion control applications
  • Familiarity with industrial communication networks such as Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, IO-Link, and AS-i
  • Knowledge of machine safety systems and networked safety concepts
  • Understanding of electrical codes, wire sizing, and industrial electrical standards
  • Experience supporting robotics and machine vision systems
  • Experience in automated manufacturing environments
