Job summary

UBC is seeking a Sub - Head Trades Electric to organize and direct the work of an assigned area and crew of skilled trades within Student Housing and Community Services facilities.

You will perform preventative and breakdown maintenance, troubleshoot high/low voltage systems, test fire protection, and supervise electricians, plumbers, carpenters and other trades. Reports to the Trades Manager; strong safety and cost-estimation skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • A trade certification to journeyperson level as a B ticket Electrician with Field Safety Representative certification and a valid BC driver’s license; minimum five years of related experience or equivalent.
  • Willingness to respect diverse perspectives and commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in a trades team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and breakdown maintenance. Troubleshoot, repair and install low and high voltage equipment and systems.
  • Supervise, organize and allocate the work of an assigned crew of trades including Electricians, Plumbers, Maintenance Mechanics, Carpenters and Painters.
  • Prepare cost estimates for jobs and order required materials; maintain records and timekeeping; communicate with customers for efficient service delivery.
