Job summary

NordSpace Corp. in Markham, Ontario, is seeking an Electrical Test Engineer to join the Test Engineering team building Canada's orbital rocket test site.

You will drive testing standards, assist in building major test infrastructure, and run end-to-end test campaigns with a hands-on approach. The role requires a Bachelor's in electrical/electronics engineering, 3+ years of experience, and proficiency with DAQ, LabVIEW, Python, C/C++, and MATLAB.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or related field.

• Hands-on testing experience in testing environments; propulsion or gas turbine testing ideal but transferable elsewhere.
• Foundational understanding of requirements, interfaces, configuration control, and verification & validation.
• Proven experience taking an engineering design from concept to validation testing.
• Experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary engineers on test plans.
• Configuring and interfacing DAQ systems and sensors.
• Experience with NI DAQ and LabVIEW.
• Experience with Python, C/C++, MATLAB.
• Willing to work outdoors and travel to remote offsite testing areas.
• Structured, detail-oriented mindset with strong communication and proactive teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Drive the development of testing standards, procedures and plans for hot fire test stands and cold flow apparatus.
• Assist design engineering in the construction and commissioning of major test infrastructure (propulsion, structures, avionics).
• Collaborate with design engineers to plan and run high-stakes test campaigns.
• Own CAD and FEA modeling and maintain clear technical documentation.
• Manage external suppliers and contractors for components and sensors used in testing.
• Draft comprehensive test reports and execute procedures to advance toward the next launch.

About the Role:

As an Electrical Test Engineer, you will be an integral part of our Test Engineering team through hands‑on design work as we build Canada's orbital rocket test site. As the test site rapidly grows, so will your role evolve into a rigorous Test Engineer with the skills to plan and safely run test campaigns. You will also be supporting other subsystems in analyzing test results and incorporating the best practices and lessons learned into future testing scenarios.

You will be part of a team leading the design, build and commissioning of major test infrastructure for propulsion, structures, and avionics, that which stands between a design and a rocket that flies.

Core Responsibilities:

• Drive the development of testing standards, procedures and plans for our hot fire test stands and cold flow apparatus, setting the bar for how we validate hardware.
• Assist our Test Engineering team in the design, build, and commissioning of major test infrastructure (including propulsion, structures, and avionics).
• Work shoulder to shoulder with design engineering to plan and run test campaigns where the stakes are high and the data matters.
• Own CAD and FEA modeling and keep technical documentation sharp enough that anyone on the team can pick up where you left off.
• Manage external suppliers and contractors to source components and manage fabrication processes for components and sensors used during testing.
• Draft comprehensive test reports and execute procedures with discipline that comes from knowing every test gets us closer to the next launch.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of electrical engineering experience (experience gained through university design teams (such as rocketry or FSAE) and internships is acceptable).
• Hands‑on industry experience working in testing environments. Rocket propulsion or gas turbine testing is considered ideal, but other lab or heavy industry (oil & gas, mining, nuclear, chemical engineering) environments are transferable.
• Foundational understanding of requirements, interfaces, configuration control, and verification & validation, with a willingness to learn on the job.
• Proven experience taking an engineering design from initial concept all the way through validation testing.
• Experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary engineers to develop comprehensive test plans.
• Practical experience configuring and interfacing Data Acquisition (DAQ) systems and sensors.
• Experience with NI DAQ units and LabVIEW.
• Experience with programing languages, such as Python, C/ C++, MatLab.
• Willing to perform duties in outdoor conditions and travel to remote offsite testing areas.
• A structured, detail-oriented mindset with strong communication skills, a proactive attitude, and the ability to collaborate closely with the team in a fast-paced environment.
