Role Description
The technical manager in electrical engineering is responsible for the technical direction of the team of service engineers, overseeing investigation and resolution of projects related to customer vehicle failures, reliability issues, and the development of aftermarket options for customers.
It is central in all project phases, from problem definition to strategy implementation with clients. The manager acts as a coach and mentor, providing support to team members.
Main responsibilities
- Technical monitoring of electrical engineers and support in their activities;
- Determine project technical requirements and define work scope;
- Guide the team through development/investigation milestones, ensuring quality and effectiveness of solutions;
- Analyze issues on customer vehicles;
- Represent the team in approval processes for service bulletins and vehicle recalls;
- Ensure governance, decision-making, problem solving, and coordination to meet quality and schedule objectives;
- Collaborate with design teams on vehicle reliability issues;
- Develop vehicle improvement and maintenance solutions;
- Implement design methodologies and integrate with design tools;
- Participate in technical training and team development;
- Assist in hiring new team members;
- Master heavy vehicle systems.

Knowledge

- Communication protocols and hardware layers: CANBus, J1939, Lin;

- Intermediate/advanced English skills for communication with suppliers and colleagues outside Quebec.

Training and experience required
- BAC in electrical engineering or related field;
- 10 years of electrical engineering experience;
- 1-3 years leading engineering teams;
- Experience with heavy vehicle systems;
- Member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec.
- This position requires on-site presence at least 3 days per week, with travel to Quebec, Canada, and the US (<5%).
