Job summary

Lanmark seeks an Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls Engineer to join its EIC group. The role supports project managers with electrical, instrumentation, and controls expertise across multiple offices in Canada and the USA.

The candidate will originate and review engineering deliverables, select instrumentation, and contribute to design reviews and commissioning activities while aligning with industry standards and client specifications.

Qualifications

  • P.Eng registered with APEGA, TBPE, or NCEES.
  • Minimum 5 years EIC engineering experience.
  • Experience at an EPCM in energy, transmission pipelines, or petrochemical preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from an accredited American or Canadian university; electrical, instrumentation, and/or controls specialization preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of interdisciplinary engineering deliverables for project execution in energy/petrochemical industries.
  • Extensive knowledge of pneumatic and electrical instrumentation specification for energy/petrochemical processes.
  • PLC, DCS industrial control network knowledge.
  • Strong knowledge of control applications including control loop definitions and interlocking systems.

Responsibilities

  • Independently originate and generate EIC engineering deliverables with technical accountability.
  • Specify instrumentation and provide procurement support for field instruments and control systems.
  • Provide instrumentation input to project managers and project teams.
  • Develop and review data sheets, installation details, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, IO lists, and related documents.
  • Review and maintain project schedules and track engineering tasks.
  • Participate in design reviews and HAZOPs.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry standards and adhere to QMS.
  • Ensure designs meet codes, Lanmark/client specifications, and standards.
  • Authenticate documentation with a professional engineering stamp as required.
  • Perform FAT, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities as needed.
  • Ensure all work aligns with company policies and safety guidelines.

ELECTRICAL, INSTRUMENTATION, AND CONTROLS ENGINEER

Our ideal candidate will be an essential member of our Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls (EIC) engineering team. This engineer will have strong knowledge of industrial processes in various industries. As a member of Lanmark’s EIC team you will perform work as part of a multi‑discipline design team with project teams in multiple offices, providing electrical, instrumentation, and controls engineering support to project managers and project teams.

Job Responsibilities
  • Independently originate and personally generate EIC engineering deliverables, exercising personal technical judgment and accountability for design outcomes. This includes authoring original engineering content, as well as assigning, directing, and reviewing work performed by others for technical accuracy and adequacy
  • Specify instrumentation (including selection, technical data sheets, bid analysis and recommendations) and provide procurement support for field instruments and control systems
  • Provide instrumentation support, technical recommendations, and engineering input to project managers and project teams
  • Independently originate, develop, and review engineering work packages and construction work packages including: data sheets, installation details, instrument location drawings, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, instrument lists; I/O lists and assignments, instrument UPS load requirements lists, location plans, area classification drawings, control system architecture diagrams, communication block diagrams, building layout, control room layouts, MCC layouts, control panel, marshalling cabinet, junction box, communication cabinet layouts, AC power distribution, DC power distribution, load list, single line diagram, IO schematics, logic diagrams, cause and effect diagrams/shutdown key, instrument index, material requisition, vendor packages
  • Review and maintain project schedules, and track engineering tasks and deliverables in conjunction with project management
  • Participate in design reviews and HAZOPs as required
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry and regulatory standards
  • Adhere to Lanmark’s Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Ensure design is in accordance with applicable codes and requirements, including Lanmark and client specifications and standards
  • Authenticate documentation with a professional engineering stamp as required
  • Perform FAT, pre‑commissioning, and commissioning activities as required
  • Ensure that all work is properly checked in accordance with Lanmark and client Standards & Procedures
  • Responsible for adhering to all health and safety policies and guidelines
Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of control applications including control loop definitions and interlocking systems
  • Design and specification experience with single‑line, control loop, area classification drawings
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills combined with a positive, team‑oriented attitude
