Job summary

Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL) is seeking Electrical Engineering Students to join the Major Projects team in Calgary/Fort McMurray. You will gain hands-on exposure to electrical engineering principles and contribute to project design and problem solving for world‑class mining operations.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Electrical Engineering
• Strong electrical/instrumentation & controls aptitude is an asset
• Solid computer/IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
• This position may require frequent site visits for extended periods of time
• Must be prepared to work in the field and work shifts (which may include night shifts) and to remain on call during off hours
• Possess a valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license or equivalent out of province license with a reasonably clean driver’s abstract

• Perform site inspections and information gathering as required

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are hiring for Electrical Engineering Students within our Major Projects team, where you will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge of Electrical engineering principles and gain valuable hands‑on experience by solving engineering and design problems for our world‑class mining operations. You will be assisting Engineering team members in the Major Projects group. This opportunity will allow you to gain insight into how the Oil and Gas industry operates.

• Job location: Calgary, Alberta – Head Office or Fort McMurray, Alberta at our Albian or Horizon Oil Sands site *
• Shift schedule:
  • Calgary-based: 5 days on, 2 days off, 8 hours per day (Monday - Friday)
  • Oil Sands-based: 4 days on, 3 days off, 10 hours per day (Monday - Thursday)
• Term lengths & starts: January 8 months or May 4 months
• Safety sensitive position: Yes
• Please Note: Depending on business needs, the work location may change. This would require the successful candidate to work at one of our Oil Sands sites north of Fort McMurray, AB.
