Job summary

Stantec in Calgary is seeking an Electrical Engineering Student for a 12- or 16-month term. You will join the Buildings Engineering group and work with our electrical team on CAD, Revit drawings, and design support.

This summer internship offers hands-on experience with the Canadian Electrical Safety Code and Alberta Building Code, including load calculations, coordination with engineers and clients, and exposure to building electrical systems and lighting design.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Detail oriented team player who has the ability to work independently.
• Demonstrated organization and planning skills and ability to work within tight deadlines.
• Power related courses and previous consulting experience would be considered an asset.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, REVIT, and/or lighting software would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of CAD and Revit drawings from sketches or mark-ups for buildings and non-buildings related projects.
• Load calculations, voltage drop, and short circuit calculations.
• Production of layout drawings for tender, construction, and record drawings.
• Preparations of single line diagrams and control schematics.
• Completion of photometric lighting calculations.
• Support of Project coordination, management, and working in a team-based environment.
• Assistance to engineers and project managers in: completion of motor, communications, security, and lighting schedules.
• The selection of electrical equipment, overcurrent protection devices, and wiring methods.
• Preparation of technical reports.
• Project coordination including interfacing with clients and contractors.

We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineering Student for our Calgary office for a 12 or 16-month term. The successful candidate will be part of the Electrical team within the Building’s Engineering group.

Your Key Responsibilities

Pay Transparency:In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.Actual compensation for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
