Kepler is looking for an Electrical Engineering Manager who is passionate about bringing ideas, creativity, and designs to life. This position requires collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams including mechanical, RF, hardware test, and software/FPGA to develop high-performance and high-reliability products. The ideal candidate is an energetic communicator who thrives in both people management and hands-on technical leadership in electrical hardware development.

Expected Time Allocation
  • 50 percent, team leadership and execution oversight
  • 20 percent, technical guidance and design input
  • 20 percent, recruiting and onboarding
  • 10 percent, administrative and reporting
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, and grow a high-performing team of electrical design engineers developing; Dense and complex PCBAs (20+ layers), Battery/solar systems and cable harness assemblies
  • Provide ongoing coaching, technical guidance, and career development through regular 1:1s and structured performance reviews
  • Establish and enforce engineering processes that drive quality, consistency, and long-term reliability in alignment with Kepler’s internal design standards
  • Collaborate with project engineers, product managers, and architects to define product attributes, resource plans, and budget estimates
  • Participate in system and product design reviews to deliver constructive feedback and guide engineers in advanced design methodologies
  • Champion knowledge sharing across the organization to strengthen the team’s collective technical expertise and promote continuous improvement
  • Support hiring plans, lead interviews, and onboard new team members
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
  • 6+ years of experience in board-level electrical hardware development
  • 3+ years in management of electrical or cross-functional engineering teams with a focus on electrical hardware development
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience recruiting, hiring, and developing high-performing engineers
  • Adapts well to changes in priorities and effectively deals with ambiguity; comfortable working in a start-up environment
Bonus Points
  • Experience in the space industry and knowledge of design-for-space considerations (radiation hardening, materials selection, thermal management, de-rating, etc)
  • Experience in agile hardware development methodologies
  • Experience in a high-growth, high-tech environment
