The Opportunity

WSP has a new opportunity for a Electrical Engineering Graduate to join our Process and Mine Infrastructure Design team on a full-time basis based in Mississauga. Our services, in the core fields of underground mine backfill and dewatered mine tailings for surface disposal, include laboratory testing, conceptual studies through to detail design, engineering design, procurement, construction support, commissioning, and project management for diverse clients in local and global mining markets. Additionally, with our expanded service offering, we perform design work for crushing/ore handling systems, mine dewatering, pipeline services, shaft design, fuel and lube station, ventilation, and other underground infrastructure.

What you can expect to do here:
  • Calculations, drafting, and 3D modelling of electrical systems within a mine infrastructure area, both surface and underground
  • Design of electrical rooms and cable trays
  • Visiting client facilities at mine sites
  • Assist with performing conceptual, feasibility, and detailed electrical design work including equipment specifications
  • Preparing, writing, and reviewing proposals and project reports
  • Interacting with clients and being responsible for project deliverables and client satisfaction
  • Coordinating with other disciplines and other WSP groups
  • Participating in WSP’s Health & Safety program
  • Assisting with other project work as required
What you’ll bring to WSP:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with mining operations would be an asset
  • Ability to complete field and office work as necessary, which may involve work outside of normal business hours
  • Must be eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training with PEO in Ontario
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of programming language (e.g., VB, Python, or other) would be an asset
  • Demonstrates a 'Safety First’ focus attitude and traits in line with WSP’s core values
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Valid driver’s license
