Job summary

Nutrien is seeking an accredited Electrical Engineering Technologist or related professional to join its mining operations in Saskatchewan. You will troubleshoot and maintain underground equipment, including PLCs, HMI, and protection systems, on a 5-5-4 schedule.

You will collaborate with electricians and a multidisciplinary team, create project work packages, and ensure safe operations up to 25 kV. Nutrien emphasizes safety, integrity, and teamwork as core values and provides growth

Qualifications

• Diploma or accreditation in Electrical/Instrumentation technology (required).
• Underground mining exposure is an asset.
• Strong PLC and HMI troubleshooting skills.
• Proficient with RS Studio, FactoryTalk SE/ME, and CodeSys.
• Ability to work safely in an industrial environment and communicate across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and maintain mining equipment including PLCs, protection and control, and HMI.
• Troubleshoot and maintain material handling and hoisting equipment.
• Assist electricians with installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of underground control systems.
• Create and modify project work packages, procedures, commissioning lists, BOMs, and training documents.
• Work with equipment up to 25 kV.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to meet goals.
• Promote and participate in safety systems in place.
• Work on a 5-5-4 schedule, including weekends, in an underground setting.

What You'll Do:

• Troubleshoot and perform maintenance on Mining Equipment including onboard PLC’s / Protection and Control / HMI equipment
• Troubleshoot and perform maintenance on Material Handling and Hoisting equipment
• Assist electricians in installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of underground electrical control systems
• Create and modify of project work packages including procedures, commissioning lists, bills of materials, and training documents
• Work with equipment with voltage ratings up to 25KV
• Work with a multidisciplinary team to achieve goals
• Participate in using and promoting the safety systems in place
• Work on a 5-5-4 schedule, includes working days and weekends
• Work in an underground setting

What You'll Bring:

• Accredited Electrical Engineering Technologist, Instrumentation Engineering Technologist, Electronics Sytems Engineering Technologist or similar accredited diploma (Requirement), will consider Electrical Engineer
• Experience in heavy industry, in particular underground mining, is an asset
• Skilled in Allen-Bradley and Schneider PLC and HMI programming and troubleshooting
• Proficient in RS Studio, FactoryTalk SE/ME, Unity, CodeSys
• Familiar with Protection Relays and Control Devices
• Familiar with industrial networking including Cat5e, switching, and industrial protocols (MODBUS, CIP, ETH/IP)
• Experience in fiber optics, L3 routing, wireless, Cisco IOS programming an asset
• Familiar and able to work safe in an Industrial Environment
• Ability to communicate with multidisciplinary group in a complex production environment
