Job summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. is seeking a Mission Critical Facilities (MCF) Engineer to join our Buildings team. The engineer works under supervision on technically challenging data center projects and provides guidance to Designers across disciplines.

The role supports project delivery, coordinates with multiple disciplines, and contributes to quality reviews and professional growth. This opportunity is available at locations with a Stantec office presence globally.

Qualifications

• Accredited engineering degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years related industry experience.
• PE/FE/EIT or other professional certification based on area of expertise preferred.
• Datacenter experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops basic system designs within own discipline under supervision of a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer; this includes the ability to offer solutions to general technical problems.
• Delegates tasks to project designers as appropriate.
• Works with the project team to prepare deliverables per the client’s scope.
• Coordinates with all disciplines to integrate design and client requests.
• Follows quality management process; reviews deliverables before QA/AC review.
• Assists with reviews of shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, site observation reports, and punch lists.
• Participates in the engineering community for professional growth.
• Assists the Project Engineer on project-related tasks.
• Meets utilization goals and adheres to project budget.

Your Opportunity

The MCF (Mission Critical Facilities) Engineer performs technical duties under the supervision of a Senior Project Engineer or Project Engineer. Understands and identifies project requirements and performs independent technical work within one’s own discipline. Provides guidance to Designers on completion of duties. The data center industry is continually evolving, and this is an ideal opportunity for candidates who enjoy working on technically challenging projects that require cutting edge designs. Aside from the preferred locations listed, this position is open to any location with a Stantec office presence, for the right candidate.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Develops basic system designs within own discipline under supervision of a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer; this includes the ability to offer solutions to general technical problems

• Delegates tasks to project designers as appropriate.

• Works in conjunction with the project team to prepare project deliverables per the client’s intent and scope of work outlined in the proposal

• Coordinates well with all disciplines to fully integrate work and client requests into design.

• Follows quality management process; reviews project deliverables prior to submission to QA/AC reviewer

• Assists with reviews of shop drawings and submittals, RFI responses, site observation reports and punch lists, attends project coordination meetings, and performs other CA tasks.

• Actively participates in the engineering/Professional community to build personal knowledge and professional growth (e.g. attend meetings / seminars / conferences).

• Assists the Project Engineer on project related tasks.

• Meets or exceeds utilization goals and adheres to project budget

Capabilities and Credentials

• Possess basic knowledge of engineering practices within own discipline.

• Knowledge of commonly used and accepted design and construction concepts, practices, procedures.

• Able to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and specifications, technical procedures, and government regulations.

• Proficient in applicable software (i.e. AutoCAD, Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud).

• Working knowledge or proficiency in power systems software (e.g. SKM) and power cable ampacity calculation software (e.g. CYME CYMCAP) preferred.

• Exhibits strong communication skills to confidently interact and communicate scope and coordinate tasks with vendors and inter-discipline co-workers.

• Displays effective organization and time management skills with projects, reports and other duties; effectively manages multiple priorities and is punctual and dependable.

Education and Experience

• Accredited engineering degree or equivalent experience required.

• Minimum 3 years related industry experience preferred.

• Registered professional engineer (PE), Fundamentals of engineering (FE) / engineer in training (EIT) or other professional certification based on area of expertise preferred.

• Datacenter experience preferred

Pay Range

Locations in Lower Mainland - BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario-$94,600.00 - $137,100.00 Annually

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
