Job summary

Phasor Engineering Inc. is seeking Electrical Engineering COOPs/Interns to join our design teams in Winnipeg. This 8-16 month internship focuses on HV power systems, including overhead and underground transmission, substations, and related design work.

You will work with an experienced team, participate in design packages, and gain hands-on experience across power systems, CAD drafting, and engineering software tools, in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Electrical Engineering student in 3rd or 4th year enrolled in a co-op program.
• Eligible to work in Canada.
• Willing to commute to the office up to 5 days a week.
• Experience with CAD drafting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work within a project team of engineers and designers in Telecom, Substation and Line Design Groups.
• Assist with substation and overhead lines/underground cable routing layout & configuration design for high, medium, and low voltage projects.
• Assist with project development, scope, and budget.
• Attend client design review meetings.
• Conduct field site inspections and field reports.
• Gain knowledge of power system studies using engineering software packages.

PHASOR Engineering Inc. is a dynamic consulting firm specializing in the engineering and design of overhead & underground transmission/distribution systems, substations, fibre optics, as well as substation and transmission foundations. Our expertise allows us to be involved in a diverse range of projects from conceptual engineering through to commissioning and startup.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineer COOP's/Interns to join our engineering team. We are specifically interested in someone who has an advanced knowledge and interest in HV Power Systems. This is an 8-16 month internship.

We offer a dynamic work environment with an extremely experienced technical team, where you will be fully involved in all aspects of the engineering and design process.

We are interested in: Electrical, Mechanical & Mechatronics Engineering students.

Preference will be given to those who can stay eight months or longer.

As an Electrical Engineering COOP, you will work in a team setting and participate in a wide variety of design for underground and overhead design projects, including telecommunications, transmission, distribution and substation design and power system studies. You may also be asked to work closely with other Phasor staff in the preparation of engineering design packages not related directly to power systems. If you have a sense of humor and an entrepreneurial mindset you will be a great fit for our company.

Responsibilities

• Work within a project team of engineers and designers in our Telecom, Substation and Line Design Groups
• Assist with substation and overhead lines/underground cable routing layout & configuration design for high, medium, and low voltage projects;
• Assist with project development, scope, and budget;
• Attend client design review meetings;
• Conduct field site inspections and field reports;
• Gain knowledge of power system studies and analysis using engineering software packages such as PLS- CAD, EasyPower, SKM, ETAP, Win-IGS, CDEGS, and PS-CADD;
• Prepare electrical equipment specifications, electrical installation scope of work documents, and Performance specifications;
• Assisting the engineering teams with drafting and CAD updates to drawings;
• Prepare, review and complete drawing mark-ups;
• Prepare and issue drawing packages;
• Other drafting and computer related tasks as called upon by one of the engineers;

Qualifications

• Experience with the use of power simulation software and design drafting experience in AutoCAD an asset
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
• Strong verbal communication abilities, good organization, interpersonal and customer service skills
• Ability to work in a team environment and with minimal supervision
• Be physically fit as site visits on potentially uneven ground may be required
• Eligible to work in Canada
• Third of fourth-year Engineering student in Electrical Engineering
