Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Vancouver is seeking an Electrical Engineer to contribute to high‑performance building projects. The role focuses on delivering electrical design, calculations, and documentation across multi-disciplinary teams, with mentorship from senior engineers.

You will work on low and medium voltage distribution, lighting, control systems, and coordination with utilities, while ensuring adherence to Canadian electrical codes and project schedules.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with EGBC.
• 4-10 years’ experience in electrical engineering consulting.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Revit.
• PLC programming is an asset.
• Knowledge and application of the Canadian electrical code.
• Demonstrated excellent written and oral English communication skills.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the electrical system design, calculations, and systems in multi-disciplinary projects from preliminary design throughout the project lifecycle.
• Preparation of schematic design, design development, and construction documents for electrical systems, including low and medium voltage distribution, lighting, power, grounding, fire alarm, communications, security, and control/signal systems.
• Review, understand, and clearly communicate all relevant client requirements, provide design options and recommendations to meet those requirements.
• Assist with preparation of deliverables to meet financial targets and schedule.
• Assist with peer reviews for quality control and quality assurance.
• Review and complete design calculations and construction documents.
• Demonstrate knowledge of codes, standards, construction means and methods related to electrical engineering to ensure designs are optimized for construction practices within the building's construction industry.
• Coordinating with Utilities and Municipalities regarding incoming services.
• Independent review of shop drawings.
• Work with contractors to quickly resolve onsite issues and ensure contractor's conformance to design requirements.
• Providing technical directions to junior designers and CAD operators.

Our Engineering Services team in Vancouver is dynamic and tight‑knit, servicing local projects while contributing to large national and international projects as part of distributed virtual project teams. Our projects are varied and span National Defense, Transportation (Rail + Transit, Maintenance Facilities, Ports + Marines, Tunnels, Airports), Municipal, Nuclear Facilities, Healthcare, Provincial, Light + Heavy Industrial, and Institutional industries across Canada and the United States.

As AtkinsRéalis positions itself for growth in the British Columbia marketplace, we are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our team in our Vancouver office. You will be trained and mentored by our highly skilled Electrical Engineering Professionals. Your role

About you

Previous electrical design experience in National Defense, Transportation (Rail + Transit, Maintenance Facilities, Ports + Marines, Tunnels, Airports), Municipal, Nuclear Facilities, Healthcare, Provincial, Light + Heavy Industrial, and Institutional industries.

Experience with AutoCAD and Revit.

PLC programming is an asset.

Knowledge and application of the Canadian electrical code.

Demonstrated excellent written and oral English communication skills.

Must have a valid driver’s license.
