Job summary

Hatch Ltd. in Winnipeg is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team. Projects are in metals, infrastructure and energy, with large EPCM and small operations support, in a multi-discipline setting where each member can make a difference.

You will lead electrical design, provide senior engineering expertise, mentor engineers, and collaborate with client teams to deliver on budget and schedule while adhering to industry codes and standards.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of electrical engineering experience, EPCM knowledge preferred.
• Engineering degree and Professional Engineer (P.E.O) registration.
• Strong communication skills, both spoken and written.
• Knowledge of industry codes and standards.
• Proficiency with SPEL, ETAP, SKM, EasyPower and ASPEN.
• Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Provides senior-level electrical engineering and design expertise for projects, supporting successful execution within budget and schedule.
• Provides technical leadership and guidance for the electrical team.
• Mentor engineers-in-training and designers.
• Prepare and check calculations as required.
• Prepare electrical equipment specification packages.
• Check vendor drawings and data for compliance with specifications.
• Prepares detailed design, supply, construction and installation specifications.
• Develop conceptual designs, studies, reports and proposals.
• Ensures effective communication within project teams and with client engineers.
• Track project metrics.
• Report to Area Project Engineering Manager for project issues and to the overall Electrical Lead for functional issues.
• Visit project sites and other Hatch design offices for project related activities as required.

SUMMARY:

The Winnipeg office is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team. Projects executed out of Winnipeg are primarily in the metals, infrastructure and energy sectors and consist of large EPCM and small operations support projects. We work in a multi-discipline engineering environment where every individual is empowered with the opportunity to make a difference.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides senior‑level electrical engineering and design expertise for projects, supporting successful execution within budget and schedule.
• Provides technical leadership and guidance for the electrical team
• Mentor engineers‑in‑training and designers
• Prepare and check calculations as required
• Prepare electrical equipment specification packages
• Check vendor drawings and data for compliance with specifications
• Prepares detailed design, supply, construction and installation specifications
• Develop conceptual designs, studies, reports and proposals
• Ensures effective communication within project teams and with client engineers
• Track project metrics
• Report to Area Project Engineering Manager for project issues and to the overall Electrical Lead for functional issues
• Visit project sites and other Hatch design offices for project related activities as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Engineer with 7 plus years of relevant experience – preferably in an EPCM environment for industrial projects in utilities and/or metals
• Engineering degree and registered as a Professional Engineer with the P.E.O or another Canadian Professional Engineering Association
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge of industry, regulatory codes and standards
• Proficient with the following electrical design tools and software: SPEL, ETAP, SKM, EasyPower and ASPEN
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multi disciplinary teams
• Collaborate on exciting projects to develop innovative solutions
