Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related field (not specified in ad, included as general expectation).
• Experience in multi-disciplinary design teams is preferred.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist/lead overall project electrical design, ensuring quality while meeting deadlines and budgets.
• Lead project coordination meetings with team members, consultants, owner, contractor, and vendors.
• Participate in client meetings, value analysis, and cost estimating.
• Support/lead electrical design deliverables for proposals and projects.
• Develop and manage project scope, budget, design approach, staffing, and schedule with the PM.
• Specify and design electrical systems from 120V to 44kV.
• Produce electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, equipment specs, power plans, conduit plans, and cable schedules.
• Prepare system studies and protective relay settings.
• Create designs through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and 3D tools.
• Coordinate across engineering disciplines to finalize deliverables.
• Assist/lead the project specs and construction support documents.
• Share lessons learned to improve the team’s performance.
• Travel locally within the National Capital Region for site inspections and meetings.

Our Ottawa, ON office is looking for a highly motivated Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join our growing, multi-disciplinary team. Responsibilities include the design of electrical systems including power distribution, essential and life safety systems, lighting, power system studies, construction administration, preparing proposals and working closely with team members, project managers, internal and external clients, contractors and suppliers. Your Key Responsibilities

• Accountable for assisting/leading with overall project electrical design; prioritizing quality while meeting deliverable deadlines, monitoring project scope, and adhering to project budgets.
• Assist in leading project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Participate/Lead client project requirement meetings, value analysis, and cost estimating.
• Support / lead technical sections of assigned proposal pursuits.
• Develop and manage project scope, budget, design approach, staffing and schedule for projects of varying sizes and complexities in coordination with the project manager.
• Evaluate, select, specify, and design applicable electrical engineered systems or products required for the project, ranging from 120V to 44kV.
• Support / lead the development of electrical design deliverables such as single line drawings, elementary and wiring diagrams, equipment specifications (including transformers, MCC (Motor Control Center), switchgear, substation equipment); power plans, conduit plans, cable schedules, system studies and protective relay settings.
• Support / lead in the development of designs through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats including 3D design tools.
• Coordinate across engineering disciplines within the project team to facilitate development of deliverables.
• Lead / contribute to the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction support documents.
• Contribute to our culture of continuous improvement by sharing lessons learned.
• Local travel within the National Capital Region for site inspections and client meetings.
