Job summary

ProMach Innovation Center in Oakville, Ontario is seeking an Electrical Engineer to lead electrical and controls design for packaging lines. The role focuses on creating complete electrical systems, developing schematics, and programming PLC/HMI solutions while ensuring compliance with customer specs and internal standards.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in electrical or controls engineering, strong CAD skills, and experience with industrial networks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical engineering or equivalent.
• 7+ years in Electrical or Controls Engineering with a programming focus.
• Experience with schematics, panels, and system architecture.
• Strong communication and technical documentation skills.
• Experience in industrial packaging or manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with PLC programming (Allen Bradley/Siemens).
• Knowledge of North American electrical standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of complete electrical and controls design packages, incl. schematics and PLC/HMI programs.
• Own end-to-end electrical design for machines and packaging lines per specs and standards.
• Review and validate design docs for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
• Interpret customer requirements, specs, and vendor docs.
• Design and coordinate power distribution, MCCs, and PDPs.
• Develop/evaluate electrical layouts and system architecture for lines.
• Provide technical guidance during build, testing, and commissioning.
• Collaborate with controls teams for PLC/HMI integration as needed.
• Contribute to design improvements, standardization, and innovation.

Zarpac is a leading global provider of packaging line engineering, integration, and productivity solutions. We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team in Oakville.

This role is ideal for a design-focused engineer who enjoys developing complete electrical systems and seeing their designs come to life in complex, automated packaging environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of complete electrical and controls design packages including both schematics and PLC/HMI programs creation
• Own the end-to-end electrical design for machine and/or full packaging lines, ensuring alignment with customer specifications and internal standards
• Review and validate design documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
• Interpret customer requirements, functional specifications, and vendor documentation
• Design and/or coordinate power distribution systems, including MCCs and PDPs
• Develop and/or review electrical layouts and system architecture for automated packaging lines
• Provide technical guidance during build, testing, and commissioning phases
• Collaborate and participate with controls teams to support PLC/HMI integration as needed
• Contribute to design improvements, standardization, and innovation initiatives

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in Electrical or Controls Engineering with a strong programming focus
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering or equivalent
• Strong communication and critical thinking skills
• Experience in industrial equipment, packaging, or manufacturing environments
• Experience developing and/or interpreting schematics, panel layouts, and system architecture
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (or equivalent design tools)
• Understanding of industrial networks and system integration
• Experience with PLC programming (Allen Bradley/Siemens)
• Experience with FactoryTalk, Igntion, or similar platforms is an asset
• Exposure to robotics, servo systems, and VFDs is an asset
• P.Eng. designation is an asset
• Strong communication and technical documentation skills
• Knowledge of North American electrical standards

Compensation

The base salary for this role is $105,000 – $130,000 CAD.

Travel Requirement

Approximately 20-25% travel, primarily to customer sites in the U.S. Occasional international travel may be required.
