As an Electrical Engineer / Technologist and member of the Mill Engineering Team, you will be operating in a position committed to safe and environmentally responsible practices. You will work closely with all team members on the design, implementation, and supervision of electrical projects including enhancements and modifications. Your excellent leadership skills will ensure all facilities can achieve maximum production and quality standards while maintaining cost efficiency and viability.

A day in the life:
  • The Electrical Engineering team focuses on the reliability-centered maintenance, and electrical upgrades at Northwood Pulp Mill. This includes a broad range of electrical and control assets across high, medium, and low-voltage levels, such as transformers, switches, powerlines, turbogenerators, protective relay circuits, UPS and back-up battery systems, as well as motors, starters, VFDs, PLCs, DCS controls, and various system upgrades—all essential for maintaining reliable power distribution and automation throughout the facility.
  • You will work closely with all team members on the design, implementation and supervision of electrical projects including enhancements and modifications and will provide sound technical support in the resolution of electrical problems.
  • Your mandate will be to ensure facilities can achieve maximum production and quality standards while maintaining cost efficiency and viability.
The Candidate:
  • Forward thinking, flexible and resourceful, you can apply your technical insight and analytical abilities to develop novel solutions.
  • Equipped with an Engineering Degree from an accredited University, you are a member of, or eligible to register with EGBC at least as an Engineer in Training (EIT) (title of Engineer) OR have a related diploma from a Technical college (title Technologist).
  • You will also have several years' broad-based experience, ideally including tenure in a modern pulp mill or similar industrial facility.

Your personal attributes include well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, a creative yet pragmatic approach to problem solving and the ability to work in teams.

Ideally, you have reliability experience working as a technologist, this will also “light up” your resume. Bonus points if you have industrial experience in modern pulp or experience in guiding and working with a unionized workforce.
