About the Role

Bruce Power is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to support nuclear generation operations. The successful candidate will have direct Bruce Power/CANDU experience and deep expertise across transformers, high-voltage distribution, power systems, and power jumper applications—especially within ring-bus station arrangements. This role focuses on front-end engineering within the ECC process and requires strong knowledge of Bruce Power governance, safety, and configuration control.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support electrical design, modification, and maintenance activities for nuclear station systems.

  • Provide technical expertise on transformers, high-voltage distribution (18.8 kV, 4.16 kV), main power output ring-bus arrangements, and power jumpers.

  • Develop and stamp engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications in compliance with CSA/IEEE codes and Bruce Power standards.

  • Execute front-end activities of the ECC (Engineering Change Control) process; champion constructability, maintainability, and safety from concept through approval.

  • Apply Bruce Power TCC (Temporary Configuration Change) process to manage temporary configurations and ensure safe plant conditions.

  • Support troubleshooting of plant electrical systems; develop corrective action plans and technical dispositions.

  • Interface with multi-disciplinary teams, contractors, and stakeholders to drive scope, schedule, and quality.

  • Ensure adherence to nuclear safety, regulatory compliance, and Bruce Power governance.

  • Mentor junior engineers and provide professional technical guidance.

Must-Have Experience & Skills
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario (in good standing).

  • Bruce Power or CANDU nuclear experience (required).

  • High-voltage distribution: 18.8 kV and 4.16 kV systems (protection, coordination, equipment selection, and integration).

  • Main power output ring-bus arrangements (design, analysis, and operability considerations).

  • Transformer replacement design and associated ECC deliverables.

  • Power jumpers (design and application in nuclear station environments).

  • Proven knowledge and practical use of Bruce Power TCC process.

  • Strong familiarity with CSA/IEEE standards and nuclear QA/QC requirements.

  • Ability to prepare/stamp calculations, single-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, and specifications.

Qualifications
  • B.Sc. or higher in Electrical Engineering.

  • P.Eng. (Ontario) – required.

  • BP Cleared (or eligibility to obtain); understanding of site access and security protocols.

  • 5+ years’ experience in power systems engineering with transformers, high-voltage equipment, and jumper design.

  • Demonstrated experience delivering within a nuclear governance framework (procedures, safety culture, configuration control).

Nice-to-Have
  • Protection & Control (P&C) coordination, relay settings, and arc-flash studies.

  • Experience with station service systems, motor control centers, and auxiliary power systems.

  • Familiarity with asset management, condition assessment, and lifecycle planning for transformers and switchgear.
