Job summary

AECOM's Buildings + Places team in Calgary is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our growing multidisciplinary group. You will support complex building and infrastructure projects across Western Canada, collaborating with architects, engineers, planners, and project managers to develop innovative and sustainable solutions.

The role covers Water & Wastewater, Transportation, Buildings, and Sustainability, including PV and EV infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering + four (4) years of relevant professional experience.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in good standing.
  • Experience in Water & Wastewater, Transportation, Buildings, and Sustainability preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP or SKM is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical analyses, calculations, and routine tests in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Assist in preparing technical specifications, design drawings, memos, and reports.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to fulfill project scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and assessments to evaluate electrical conditions and provide recommendations.

Job Description

AECOM's Buildings + Places business line is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our growing multidisciplinary team in Calgary, Alberta. This position will support the delivery of complex building and infrastructure projects across Western Canada, working alongside architects, engineers, planners, and project managers to develop innovative and sustainable solutions for public and private sector clients.

B+P Canada is a vibrant and growing fully integrated team spanning architecture, all the building's engineering disciplines, landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, economics and asset management for design and infrastructure projects. Project assignments may include, although not limited to: Transit and Municipal, Commercial, and Institutional projects, Justice, Education and Government.

Job Summary

You will support projects across Water & Wastewater, Transportation, Buildings, and Sustainability sectors, including renewable energy (PV) and electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure. You will work under moderate supervision and contribute to a variety of engineering design and analysis tasks while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities
  • Perform electrical analyses, calculations, and routine tests in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Assist in preparing technical specifications, design drawings, memos, and reports.
  • Identify discrepancies in results and propose solutions using sound engineering judgment.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to fulfill project scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and assessments to evaluate the electrical conditions and provide recommendations.
  • Provide technical or operational guidance to less experienced engineers, EIT’s and technicians.
  • Stay updated on industry codes, regulations, and best practices to ensure high-quality design solutions.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering + four (4) years of relevant professional experience
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in good standing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in sectors such as Water & Wastewater, Transportation, Buildings, and Sustainability (PV and EV systems).
  • Experience in design tools: AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, SKM, or similar.
  • Solid Knowledge of power systems: MV/LV distribution, lighting, controls, renewable energy systems.
  • Proficiency with engineering calculations and preparing technical documentation.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills (English proficiency essential).
  • Ability to recognize and adhere to established deadlines and schedules is a must.
  • Ability to fit into a fast-paced team environment and/or work independently.
  • Self-motivated, detail oriented and multi-tasking.

  • Relocation is not available for this position.

Onboarding Requirement

To support this commitment, all newly hired employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment.

Compensation

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $80000 to $110000.
