Your opportunity

Dillon’s Electrical Discipline is seeking an Electrical Designer– Lighting and Traffic Signals to fill an existing vacancy within our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.

Responsibilities

Design and Project Management

  • Contribute to the technical expertise on a variety of multi-disciplinary projects including:
    • Design of traffic signals and illumination
    • Prepare lighting and traffic signal layouts
    • Prepare wiring diagrams and electrical details
    • Photometric analysis of lighting systems
    • Design of low voltage electrical distribution design for subdivisions
    • Voltage drop calculations
    • Prepare contract documents and specifications
    • Site visits and contract administration
  • Coordinate a variety of multi-disciplinary projects for both public and private sector clients
  • Business travel to other Dillon offices upon request
Learning & Development
  • Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development
  • Input to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring
  • Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees
Qualifications
  • A degree in electrical engineering
  • Licensed to practice as a professional engineer in Ontario, or eligible to be licensed within six months
  • A minimum of 1-4 years of professional experience, preferably in the consulting industry
  • IMSA Certifications in Traffic Signal Level I and Level II Design, Roadway Lighting Technician Level I and Level II are considered an asset.
Experience
  • Proven experience in the design of traffic signals and illumination
  • Knowledge of AGi32 and other lighting calculation programs
  • Knowledge of various municipal and MTO lighting and traffic signal design standards
  • Knowledge of MTO Contract Preparation System (CPS)
  • Knowledge of ANSI/IES, Transportation Association of Canada standards and Ontario Electrical Safety Code as they relate to lighting and traffic signals
  • Strong abilities in project management/coordination
  • Exceptional communication (verbal and written) skills are essential
Compensation

$65,000 - $109,100

Dillon is including the salary range that we in good faith believe may offer for this position. It will be dependent on the successful applicant’s education, experience, and skills, in addition to internal equity and geographic region. Dillon reserves the right to pay outside of the posted range, contingent on factors unrelated to an applicant’s gender or other status protected by provincial and/or federal law.
