Job summary

Epiroc is seeking an Electrical Designer to join our onsite Canada team. You will design electrical systems for projects, ensure safety and performance, and collaborate with global teams on multidisciplinary efforts.

The role emphasizes developing battery-driven drive systems and associated infrastructure. Requirements include 2+ years in the field, a relevant engineering degree, and strong MATLAB/Simulink capabilities.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of related industry experience.
• Experience with functional safety application design and development under standards such as IEC EN 61508 and ISO 13849
• Engineering degree, diploma, or similar
• In-depth knowledge of integrating battery systems, electric drivetrains, power electronics, thermal management and other components to create a fully functional system
• Knowledge of CAN and Ethernet communication protocols
• In-depth understanding of Electrical engineering principles
• Good understanding of hardware and software systems simulations using MATLAB, Simulink

Responsibilities

• Help design the electrical systems associated with projects
• Responsible for the function and safety of the electrical systems associated with their project(s)
• Work with other members of a multi-disciplinary team
• Collaborate with global teams on projects
• Assist in the development of the scope of assigned projects
• Aid in any other electrical design work done as part of assigned projects
• Identify and mitigate risks to ensure successful project outcomes
• Prepare and review technical documentation: Circuit diagrams, schematics, reports, drawing packages, simulations, etc
• Identify opportunities for process and design improvement/optimization
• Plan for and execute testing and commissioning of the systems created as part of assigned projects
• Help with the integration of various systems, ensuring compatibility, efficiency, and reliability across the entire system
