Job summary

WSP is seeking an Electrical and Controls Designer to shape energy systems across Canada. You will review P&IDs, produce complete electrical packages, and ensure alignment with standards for RFQs, bids and construction.

Based in Alberta, BC, Ontario, or Atlantic provinces, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver future-ready projects. A technical diploma and power-gen experience are preferred, with advanced AutoCAD proficiency required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in electrical design, ideally within consulting or EPC environments.
• Experience supporting Power Generation Projects is required.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with 3D CAD tools is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Review P&IDs and transform them into clear electrical drawings and specifications.
• Generate complete electrical drawing packages for approval, bid, and construction, including single-line diagrams, schematics, lighting design, control panel details, heat trace design and more.
• Apply engineering and construction standards to evaluate RFQs, quotations, purchase orders, and electrical contract documents.
• Mark up vendor package/skid drawings to meet project specifications and ensure seamless integration across disciplines.
• Provide practical wiring details and technical guidance to support electrical contractors in the field.
• Offer responsive field support during construction, ensuring issues are resolved quickly and safely.
• Coordinate with mechanical, process, civil, structural and other teams to achieve shared project goals.
• Prepare requisitions, review BOMs, and contribute to high-quality deliverables that keep complex projects moving forward.

As an Electrical and Controls Designer, you’ll join our dynamic Process & Energy Electrical Group and collaborate with multidisciplinary experts to bring impactful, future‑ready projects to life.

This role can be based in any WSP office across Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, or the Atlantic provinces.

Your Impact

The Skills That Set You Apart

• A technical diploma in electrical engineering technology or a related discipline from a recognized post‑secondary institution.
• 5+ years of hands‑on experience in electrical design, ideally within consulting or EPC environments. Candidates with less experience are also invited to apply in consideration for other opportunities.
• Experience supporting Power Generation Projects required.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with 3D CADD tools is an advantage.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $77,400 – $102,500

MB & ON: $70,600 – $97,200

NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $69,900 – $92,900
