What Is The Opportunity
The Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Advisor, reporting to the EHS Manager, will be engaged in the development, implementation, and oversight of the Aecon Safety Program for the Aecon Nuclear Fabrication Facilities. This position is located in Cambridge, ON and may require night shift and weekend work.
What You'll Do Here
- Work directly with EHS Manager and Fabrication team to support accountability in relation to Environment Health and Safety.
- Provide advisement and monitoring of the development, implementation, performance and effectiveness of the Safety Management Program, and all other EHS related plans.
- Notify Managers and Supervisors of any compliance issues associated with the work and assist in the development and implementation of corrective actions.
- Have a field facing approach to safety management.
- Spend time in the field advising staff, modelling behaviour and re‑reinforcing standards.
- Ensure effective completion of project safety meetings and support or conduct audits and incident investigations.
- Take an advisor role in promoting injury prevention within a culture of health, safety and continuous improvement.
- Support the facility in notifications and event management.
- Train staff in the requirements of safety procedures.
What You Bring To The Team
- A designation such as NSCO or CRSP.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Health and Safety within the nuclear or construction industry.
- Relevant Post Secondary education or equivalent experience in the Health and Safety field.
- A Team Player that accepts and can manage change regularly.
- Demonstrated Leadership abilities with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage sub‑contractors safety performance.
- Emergency Planning and Hot Work Procedures.
- Experience working in a unionized environment.
