Overview

The Tax HR Business Partner (HRBP) collaborates with the Tax Canadian Managing Partner (CMP) and Tax Leadership Team (TLT) on developing and implementing the Tax Talent Management Strategy, including national strategies and programs. As an ‘HR Account Manager’ for the Tax function, the HRBP works with specialists in Talent Attraction, Total Rewards, Learning & Development, Employee Relations, and other HR Business Partners to assess the current state of the function from a people perspective and recommend future strategies to deploy, retain, engage, and develop talent effectively.

What You Will Do
  1. Participate as an active member of the National HR Leadership Team representing the Tax function.
  2. Serve as an internal consultant to the Tax team, providing solutions and strategic insights for current and future talent needs.
  3. Share industry and market best practices and offer thought leadership on organizational and people-related talent strategies.
  4. Build strong collaborative relationships with leadership at an executive level to add value to business results.
  5. Provide overall functional HR direction during business planning, working with the Tax Leadership Team and the National HR Leadership Team.
  6. Analyze talent issues with the CMP and TLT, determine solutions, and partner with Centres of Expertise (CoEs) when necessary, utilizing data and insights.
  7. Develop talent through succession planning and next-generation leadership processes across the function.
  8. Identify opportunities for teamwork enhancement and individual growth within the Tax team.
  9. Drive cross-functional efficiencies by collaborating with other HR Business Partners.
  10. Act as a liaison across HR functions to ensure aligned and effective HR services, providing feedback and collaborating to optimize support.
What You Bring To The Role
  1. 10+ years of experience in an HR Business Partner or similar HR role.
  2. 5+ years of professional services experience with a deep understanding of the Tax business and current talent trends.
  3. Ability to quickly build relationships with stakeholders and influence at leadership and executive levels.
  4. Extensive HR experience, including reward principles, performance management, career development, learning, and organizational development.
  5. CHRP or equivalent experience is an asset.
  6. Strategic thinker with strong analysis, presentation, and communication skills.
  7. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to market changes.
  8. Self-starter capable of providing timely, relevant insights to leadership.
  9. Strong skills in understanding business issues, building rapport, inquiry, listening, diagnosis, and influencing.
  10. Fluency in English, with the ability to support or collaborate with English-speaking colleagues, and interpret policies, laws, and regulations as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected base salary range for this position in the BC region is $115,500 to $193,000, potentially supplemented by bonuses. Salary offers are based on location, skills, and qualifications. KPMG also offers a comprehensive Total Rewards program.
